Guess What? Americans ARE doing the jobs that Americans don't want to do....From the International Herald Tribune:Fewer Hispanic immigrants are being hired to replace meat packing workers arrested at Swift & Company plants in Grand Island, Nebraska, and Greeley, Colorado, during last week's immigration raid, according to union officials."
Ah, so let me get this straight. Unlike what the amnesty folks say, that it doesn't matter if we crack down, immigrants will still come out in droves, it appears they are not coming out in droves. Also, from the same source, it appears that LEGAL CITIZENS of America are actually coming out to do those supposedly unwanted jobs:
Fewer Hispanic immigrants are being hired. "Local 22 union president Dan Hoppes said Tuesday that 40 to 50 new workers have been hired at the Grand Island plant since the raids, and he said the lion's share of those people were Caucasian... The recent hires at Swift might indicate some Americans will do these jobs for better wages and benefits
Now, the pro-amnesty crowd will say that these were jobs that Americans would not take...The real question should be were these jobs even open to regular citizen Americans, no matter the color?
Before the raids, roughly 90% of the Greeley plant workers were Hispanic. In Greeley, where Swift is headquartered, union local president Ernie Duran said about 75 new workers have been hired, including about 30 Caucasians, 15 Somali immigrants and seven Hispanic immigrants with the rest being US-born Hispanics
Seems to me that Swift went out looking for illegals, and got them, esp. if 90% of the workforce were Hispanic. It especially gets more interesting if you know the rest of the story:
Several union officials said that Swift, which has denied knowingly hiring illegal workers and has not been charged, improved its wages and benefits and bonuses before the raids
So, Swift was tipped this raid was coming, and was getting ready to properly pay its workers to attract regular Americans. So, let's see here if I have this right, because sometimes I might not get it correct: Illegals don't exactly take "the jobs Americans won't do;" it seems like illegals take the jobs American companies won't offer to Americans. Now when ICE goes in and removes a percentage of the workforce because they're illegal, then Caucasians get the gig, then Americans get the jobs. So Americans will do the work if the pay is above what you will pay your uneducated, low-wage illegal immigrant workforce. Sounds like the key to getting Americans to doing these jobs is to get rid of the Illegal Immigrant workforce.....but wait, that makes too much logical sense...Let's just keep up the fallacy that Americans refuse to do this type of work at all......
