We have endorsed a slate of candidates in contested primaries to enable this party to make its very best effort to present to the voting public the most qualified and best candidates, and to have a winning effort in the general election this Fall."

Braden went on to say "Every election year is of course important, but as we look at 2008 and the significance of this election, every race is of the utmost importance, from the top of the slate to the bottom. The endorsements we have made for the primary election are intended to impress upon Republicans that very importance. At its meeting today the leadership of the party (Executive Committee) has taken a stand and declared that we must move forward, without reservation, and work to elect the very best Republican office holders and the very best individuals to lead this community. We feel we have made the first step today in accomplishing these goals."

The Stark County Republican Executive Committee endorsed this slate with near unanimous consent.
