Happy Thanksgiving from Rob Portman

Note:
Jane and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you are able to enjoy time together with your friends and family.

The first Thanksgiving was a time of tribulation for the pilgrims. But even in the face of great adversity they took time to thank God for all His blessings, asked for guidance and looked forward with optimism.

During these difficult economic times for Ohio and our nation, their example is inspiring. Many times in our nation’s history we’ve faced what seemed to be insurmountable challenges, but we have always found a better way and made it through. That is the spirit of America and a part of what sets us apart.

As we gather tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving, it is a time to reflect on our many blessings, including the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy as Americans. We must preserve what has made America a land of opportunity and a beacon of hope for the rest of the world and ensure these blessings can continue for our children and grandchildren.

Let us also pause to thank those serving our nation overseas, away from their loved ones during this holiday season, and ask God’s blessings for them and their families.

Finally, I want you to know how grateful I am for your continued support and encouragement. I look forward to our work together over the next year.

God bless,

Rob Portman
