Columbus – Ohio Republican Party Chairman Kevin DeWine issued the following statement in response to Vice President Joe Biden’s statement referring to tea party Americans and Republican members of Congress as “terrorists”:This is the same guy who called bloggers and grass roots activists "noise," a "distraction", and liars. While not on the same level as the vice president, let's not pretend that the chairman actually likes the people he is defending in this statement. Need further proof? Remember Kent Moore? The chairman was so upset with Mr. Moore that ORP hired him in the last election cycle. How about Teri Morgan? (here and here) The chairman didn't seem too interested in defending the honor of "a significant cross section of Ohio voters who stood up and sent a message in 2010" back then...
“While Joe Biden is certainly no stranger to embarrassing himself, his hate speech inside of the United States Capitol describing everyday Americans and members of Congress as ‘terrorists’ is utterly distasteful and requires an immediate apology,” Chairman DeWine said.
“The Americans Joe Biden dismisses as ‘terrorists’ represent a significant cross section of Ohio voters who stood up and sent a message in 2010 that government needs to stop spending money it doesn’t have. Intolerant remarks such as these decrease the level of discourse in our democracy and only serve to divide our nation,” Chairman DeWine concluded.
Another unforced error...
Politics as usual is not the answer, Mr. Chairman. And as much as I applaud you for realizing that the vice president is an embarrassment, we have to hold our side to the same standards or we just look like fools.
