VIDEO: Jon Husted - R.I.N.O.

I don't think we need more of the same Republican "leadership" that brought us the CAT tax and Tom Noe. If we learned anything from the last couple of election cycles, it should have been that we need real change and we aren't going to get it from playing political musical chairs in Columbus.

Space Breaks the Law

The Accidental Congressman accidentally forgot to renew his driver's license. He was pulled over for speeding and got a warning... If you were driving on an expired license, would YOU have received a warning? I don't think so...

Paul Lindsay, NRCC spokesman said, "Apparently Zack Space is as careless with his driving habits as he is with his unyielding support for Nancy Pelosi’s agenda in Washington. This is the same Zack Space who made a commitment to ‘protect the pocketbooks’ of his constituents before supporting a trillion dollar spending bill at their expense, so perhaps he can find time to renew his broken campaign promises once he renews his license."

This sort of thing appears to be a pattern for the Accidental Congressman...

Budget Update

What is in this budget?

  • Record Spending In The Budget: The Democrats' budget increases spending to $3.9 trillion in 2009, or 27% of GDP – the highest level since World War II. This is simply too much spending and will lead to higher taxes, slower economic growth, and fewer jobs for middle class families.

  • Historically High Deficits For The Next Ten Years: Despite their claims, the Democrats' budget promises historically high deficits stretching out until 2019, when the budget deficit will stand at $712 billion.
A Record Deficit In 2009: The Democrats' budget would produce a $1.75 trillion deficit, or 12.3 percent of GDP, in 2009. This deficit level is more than three times the previous record deficit.

Not Halving The Deficit: Despite the President's pledge to cut the deficit by the end of his first term, the Democrats' budget projects that deficits will start increasing immediately after that. Thus, the Democrats' budget only halves the deficit for one year before it starts going back up again.

$24 Billion Spent A Day: Over the first fifty days of the new Administration, Democrats have spent approximately $24 billion a day, most of it with borrowed money.

$1 Billion Spent An Hour: Over the first fifty days of the new Administration, Democrats have spent approximately $1 billion an hour, most of it with borrowed money.

  • Doubling The National Debt Over The Next Eight Years: The Democrats’ budget doubles the national debt over the next eight years.
Skyrocketing Net Interest Payments: Beginning in 2012, and every year thereafter, the government will spend more than $1 billion a day in net interest.

Trillion Dollar Increase In Entitlement Spending: The Democrats' budget includes a $1 trillion increase in entitlement spending over ten years. The budget dramatically increases entitlement spending while doing very little to improve the budget impact of existing entitlement programs.

  • Energy Tax: A $3,100 a year tax on everybody who flips on a light switch is still in this budget. Anybody think raising taxes on EVERYBODY during a recession is a good idea?

  • What is NOT in this budget?

  • Middle-Class Tax Cut: Comrade President Obama told the American people that he'd give them a middle-class tax cut if they voted for him but Democrats have cut the middle-class tax cut right out of this budget. Nobody addresses this better than Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner:
“This is an epic bait-and-switch that should infuriate every middle-class family in America. The American people overwhelmingly believe middle-class tax relief is essential to getting our economy moving again. But instead of cutting taxes for middle-class families, Washington Democrats are raising their taxes by as much as $3,100 a year in the middle of a deep recession.”

  • What are Republicans Doing About It?

The top three Republican leaders in the House and Senate announced today that they will hold a joint, bicameral conference meeting on Wednesday, April 1 to discuss President Obama’s budget that will be voted on by both chambers later this week.
“This bicameral meeting will highlight what Republicans on both sides of Capitol Hill know: President Obama’s budget spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much from our kids and grandkids,” House Republican Leader John Boehner (OH) said. “We are working together to make clear to the American people that we will offer better solutions that curb spending, create jobs, and control debt. Families and small businesses are hurting, but rather than confront this economic crisis directly, the President’s budget would use it as a pretext to increase the size of government. That is simply irresponsible.”

“Over the last several weeks, the American people have expressed concern over the spending, taxes and borrowing in this budget, and Congressional Republicans share their concerns,” said Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (KY). “House and Senate Republicans are united in proposing commonsense solutions to create jobs, curb spending and control the debt. We will continue to work together to highlight our better solutions, such as keeping taxes low and reining in spending, to strengthen our economy and create jobs.”

“In his first budget submission, the President doesn’t do enough for middle class families, will raise taxes on small businesses that employ one in four American workers, and amass more debt than the previous forty-three Presidents combined, leaving our children with the bill,” said House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (VA). President Obama ran a successful campaign last year, but this Administration has moved away from honest and open debate and has become more ideological in its attempt to run through trillions of dollars of additional spending and racking up record levels of debt. The Administration has moved too far away from the mainstream of America and has resorted to strong arming both Democrat and Republican Members of Congress, which is beneath the President’s own standard.”

“President Obama’s budget grows the government, not the economy,” said Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl (AZ). “The new programs and policies it would establish also mean the government will have much more control over our health care, energy, education, and other aspects of our everyday lives. The increased debt burden that will result from his plan will substantially affect our quality of life long after this recession is over. In this time of economic uncertainty, Republicans are united in our belief that the most responsible way to end this recession is to encourage American businesses to grow and create good jobs. By dramatically expanding the size and cost of the federal government, the President’s budget goes in the wrong direction.”

“As the Democrat budget is debated in the House and Senate this week, Republicans are united in protecting taxpayers from the most fiscally irresponsible budget in American history and instead passing a budget that curbs spending, creates jobs and controls debt,” said House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (IN).

“The Democrats’ budget is a blueprint for a very different America, one that our children and grandchildren can’t afford,” Senate Republican Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander (TN) said. “It runs up more new debt than all the presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush combined. Republicans want to curb spending, create jobs, and control debt.”

Barack Obama so Scripted He Belongs in WWE....

so implyeth my man, the Champ, John Cena. And FYI, Nina Easton is a clueless feeb who gives Obama too much leeway....

Cena lays down the five knuckle shuffle on the thug in chief around the 4:00 to 4:17 mark....

Nina Easton and Hugh Hewitt get schooled by Cena on illegal immigration as well....

So Hugh Blewitt again! The wrestler gets it right! Cena has more integrity than the political wonk....I am not shocked....

Daniel Hannon, A New British Hero....

Daniel Hannon is one of the voices crying in the Wilderness, speaking out against the creep of nasty and debilitating Socialism, both in his own country as well as the United States. Check out this video:

If only Matt's Congressman and a Great American, John Boehner; or my Congresswoman, and a Great American, Jean Schmidt, had the stones to say this to the manchild baby President we now have....
Here is the transcript. The bold parts I think are especially pertinent to the manchild incompetent President of the US:
Prime Minister, I see you’ve already mastered the essential craft of the European politician, namely the ability to say one thing in this chamber and a very different thing to your home electorate. You’ve spoken here about free trade, and amen to that. Who would have guessed, listening to you just now, that you were the author of the phrase ‘British jobs for British workers’ and that you have subsidised, where you have not nationalised outright, swathes of our economy, including the car industry and many of the banks? Perhaps you would have more moral authority in this house if your actions matched your words? Perhaps you would have more legitimacy in the councils of the world if the United Kingdom were not going into this recession in the worst condition of any G20 country?

The truth, Prime Minister, is that you have run out of our money. The country as a whole is now in negative equity. Every British child is born owing around £20,000. Servicing the interest on that debt is going to cost more than educating the child. Now, once again today you try to spread the blame around; you spoke about an international recession, international crisis.
Well, it is true that we are all sailing together into the squalls. But not every vessel in the convoy is in the same dilapidated condition. Other ships used the good years to caulk their hulls and clear their rigging; in other words – to pay off debt. But you used the good years to raise borrowing yet further. As a consequence, under your captaincy, our hull is pressed deep into the water line under the accumulated weight of your debt We are now running a deficit that touches 10% of GDP, an almost unbelievable figure. More than Pakistan, more than Hungary; countries where the IMF have already been called in. Now, it’s not that you’re not apologising; like everyone else I have long accepted that you’re pathologically incapable of accepting responsibility for these things. It’s that you’re carrying on, wilfully worsening our situation, wantonly spending what little we have left. Last year - in the last twelve months – a hundred thousand private sector jobs have been lost and yet you created thirty thousand public sector jobs.

Prime Minister, you cannot carry on for ever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecedented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt. And when you repeat, in that wooden and perfunctory way, that our situation is better than others, that we’re ‘well-placed to weather the storm’, I have to tell you that you sound like a Brezhnev-era apparatchik giving the party line. You know, and we know, and you know that we know that it’s nonsense!
Everyone knows that Britain is worse off than any other country as we go into these hard times. The IMF has said so; the European Commission has said so; the markets have said so – which is why our currency has devalued by thirty percent. And soon the voters too will get their chance to say so. They can see what the markets have already seen: that you are the devalued Prime Minister of a devalued government.

What a breath of fresh air! This guy needs to give the GOP leadership a swift kick in the bum! He has seen socialism, including the garbage of socialized medicine, and he advises us not to go down the Pelosi path to destruction! See what he says about socialized medicine in an interview with Sean Hannity:
Is it a good idea for the U.S. to invest in nationalized health care?

HANNAN: Now, first of all, it's important that you understand that that's a true story, and it's a typical story. It's not in the newspapers because it's unusual. We have a rationing body that's called, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence. It's known as NICE, N-I-C-E, which, coincidentally, there was an adult novel by C.S. Lewis in the 1940s where the NICE was this kind of Satanic conspiracy.

And in terms of them, align affects, you can sort of see the connection. I mean it's a terrible thing to put anyone in this situation, any bureaucrat in this situation, of having to make those life and death decisions because they are literally life and death decisions.

      HANNITY: So you...

HANNAN: The worse thing is for you as the recipient of health care because you've got no control over what you get. There's no contractual relationship between you and the suppliers, so, you know, if they treat you today or next week or six weeks from now, where it's too late because your condition has already deteriorated.

      HANNITY: So your advice.

HANNAN: ... there's nothing you can do about it. You are expected to queue up with a smile and be grateful for what you have. And it is — it's the last survivor of the kind of socialist post-war conspiracy. Sorry, socialist post war –- yes, I'm tired. It's midnight. Socialist post-war consensus...

HANNITY: All right, let me ask you.

      HANNAN: ... in the U.K.

HANNITY: So your advice to America is to stay away from socialized health care. I think you're very clear on that. Let me ask you what.

HANNAN: If you — listen, if you get nothing else from what I'm saying this evening, please do not make that mistake. If there are any congressman watching this who think, yes, it might be a bit fair, yes, it'd be a bit sort of cozy, you know, I promise you, it is worse for doctors. It's worse for patients. It's worse for taxpayers.

Listen to a harbinger, someone who lives with the type of nonsense Pelosi and Co. want to bring to America....the line must be drawn here, and no further!

Brown County Update: Sheriff Getting Scapegoated by Dem Commissioners

Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger has received criticism for closing a wing of his county jail, even as he is having to ship inmates to Butler County. The problem is not overcrowding, it is lack of funding. From 10tv in Columbus:
There is plenty of available jail space, the problem is there is no one to watch them when they're here.

"State of Ohio requires so many corrections officers per shift. To fill our jail completely we need four officers." said Brown County Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger.

Hiring them won't be easy. There isn't any money.

Still, Sheriff Wenninger said his department is at the bare minimum, there are 13 fewer employees now than in 2001.

"We're operating with less money eight years ago then we are today as far as supplies and staff and salaries. We don't know of anybody who can operate household budget like that eight years ago," said Sheriff Wenninger.

Gee, if there isn't any money, then why do the Commissioners want to build a new jail? Yep, that is right...they want to build a new facility even though the current one is not filled, but prisoners are being shipped out due to lack of manpower:
Brown County Commissioners want to build a new jail, but the sheriff says no thanks.

Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger says the current jail holds 65 inmates, but his department only has enough money to house 35 inmates on any given day. He says they can't afford to pay for the guards or food that would be needed for more inmates.

Sheriff Wenninger also says the county is forced to pay to send some of its prisoners to Butler County, because there aren't enough resources to handle them in Brown County.

Did I mention that all the Commissioners are Democrats?

Commission President Margery "Purple People Eater" Paeltz, whose main qualification for commission was getting her arse handed to her in elections for the past 20 years, so much so people felt sorry for her, had this to say on the issue, showing an ignorance typical of Dems:
We only have what we have, we can only give what we have," said Paeltz.

Paeltz questions the Sheriff's decision to recently ship inmates to Butler County which costs around $70 per inmate.

"That's his choice, it's his budget his job to handle his budget. We weren't asked our opinion but know other counties around us that do offer prisoner housing rates that are lower," said Paeltz.

I wonder what experience Paeltz has in law enforcement...oh yeah, none!

Margery can question his decisions, but, you know Wenninger would catch hell if he understaffed the prison and an inmate escaped, or the state issued sanctions. The Dems on Commission are scapegoating Wenninger because he is one of the GOP's stalwarts in the County.

Of course, Margery can get dirt whenever she wants on the Republicans because her husband claims to be a Republican and comes to club and central committee meetings, throwing his own brand of chaos into things by shooting his ill-informed and emptyheaded mouth of whenever he feels like it. He has managed to get information on his wife's opponent's strategy to add key campaign dollars at times as well as some key placement of ads. If this were countries, one could say her hubby is a spy. But, your mileage may vary....

You know, Dwayne Wenninger is doing his best in the county. The commission is trying to say he is standing in the way of a new jail. However, again, why spend money on a new jail when the one we have isn't filled due to lack of staffing? Wait, I know, because it would be with "free" government money, from you, the taxpayer, they could get by sexing up the issue for a levy vote or getting some "stimulus" money. However, wouldn't the staffing problem remain? This is like Obama showing up talking how he saved those cop jobs in Columbus....FOR ONE YEAR.... Are these three Dims so Dumb? Sadly, the answer for Brown County is YEP.

Crushing Dissent: Barney Frank Refuses to Let Truth About AIG Hush Money To Come to Light

Slobbering Simpering Socialist Barney Fhwank is at it again....He decided to use House rules to close questioning regarding the AIG bailout money and bonuses. Here is the transcript where Frank shuts down questioning to save TurboTax Cheat Geithner:
BACHUS: Was there any discussion over a haircut or 95%, taking 95% or 90% as full payment?

GEITHNER: We explored at that time every possible means to reduce the drain on their resources, including what you referred to.

      FRANK: (bangs gavel)

GEITHNER: But again, because we have no legal mechanism in place for dealing with this like we deal with the bank, we did not have the ability to selectively impose losses on their counterparts without --

      FRANK: (bangs gavel)

      BACHUS: You're a 80% owner.

FRANK: (banging gavel) N-no, I'm sorry! The gentleman has now exceeded the five minutes. As I said before the last person speaking during the five minutes will, uhh, complete a sentence and we will move on. Mr. Geithner, uhh, you want to complete the sentence?

GEITHNER: I forgot where I was in my sentence, but (nervous chuckle)

FRANK: Well, that's all right. Then we will now go to Mr. Kanjorski. There are too many members here for those of us in the top row to abuse the five-minute privilege.

What Bachus was getting to which Frank doesn't want people to know is this: Bachus was about to nail Geithner on the use of the AIG bailout as a laundry for Goldman Sachs, et cetera.

Crushing true discussion and dissent--Nancy's ninnies in the House, with Slobbering Socialist Criminal Simp Bawrney Fwrank at the lead...disgusting.

      Youngstown John Update

Last week, we took Youngstown John Boccieri to task for his support of Card Check. This week, we're questioning whether he actually wants to live in the district he represents.

When Boccieri kicked off his bid for the 16th District Congressional seat, he did not live in the 16th District. He lived and owned a home in New Middletown, which is located in the 6th District - ten minutes south of Youngstown. As his campaign progressed, the fact that he didn't live in the district became a major issue, so Boccieri tried to sweep the issue under the rug by putting his New Middletown home up for sale and renting a home in Alliance, which is in the 16th District.

At first glance, it seems that Boccieri actually wants to live in the district he represents. But, when one digs deeper into the issue, questions arise. According to the Mahoning County Auditor, Boccieri's out-of-district home is valued at $216,700, which is also what it was valued at last year during the campaign. Currently, Boccieri's home is for sale for $259,900 - $43,200 above market value. During the campaign, Boccieri brushed off this discrepancy, blaming it on the weak housing market. If it was (and still is) such a terrible time to have a house on the market, why the heck would you put your house up for sale that much above market value? This indicates to me that he never had an interest in selling it and wants to move back out of the 16th district when the opportunity presents itself.

Maybe he's waiting for his out-of-district home to get gerrymandered into the district he represents? Only time will tell with Youngstown John.

The ‘Youngstown John’ update is dedicated to Rep. John Boccieri (OH-16), Ohio’s most notorious Youngstown liberal. Whether it’s taking dirty campaign cash, carpetbagging, or deceiving his constituents, Boccieri’s done it all! Keep your eyes open every week here at WMD for the ‘Youngstown John’ update, through which will expose Boccieri for who he really is – a fake Youngstown liberal who is a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi, big labor bosses, and out-of-touch beltway Democrats.

      Rep. Jordan on Obama's Budget

      Statement:
WASHINGTON – In preparation for his lead role in supporting a more fiscally-conservative “alternative” budget, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) today offered the following opening remarks in the House Budget Committee in opposition to President Barack Obama’s FY 2010 budget proposal.

“Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Last Friday, Emily and Andrew Beck, originally from Carey, OH in our district gave birth to their son Olin. Olin is nine pounds, 3 ounces, 19 ¼ inches long and named after his grandpa. And little does this young man know - baby Olin is already more than $30,000 in debt to his government. And if the majority’s budget plays out as projected, that debt will go up to $70,000 by the time he’s able to write his name in cursive.

Olin’s not a free spender...he’s barely a week old! He simply was born at a time of unprecedented deficit spending by his United States Congress. This budget spends 10 billion dollars a day, every day for a year, moving the budget to an unprecedented level of 25% of GDP. It projects trillion-dollar deficits as far as the eye can see, landing somewhere around 125% of GDP in a few years.

And this comes on top of the bailouts, the omnibus spending bill, and the so-called stimulus bill that promises to spend $262,000 per job created, showering our tax dollars on such things as 300 million dollars worth of golf carts for federal bureaucrats; 50 million dollars for the National Endowment for the Arts; and millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded bonuses for executives at AIG.

Mr. Chairman, the administration has suggested that America’s economic ‘crisis’ should not be overlooked as an ‘opportunity’ for the majority to spend.

We disagree. We believe this is a moral issue – about baby Olin’s future, and about the future of our country. For generations, moms and dads have sacrificed so their kids can have life a little better than they did. That is the American dream!

But with this budget, the majority and the administration are putting the future at risk. They are forcing baby Olin and his generation into an almost insurmountable debt spiral – requiring them to run a 1 trillion-dollar budget surplus every year for 23 straight years, just to break even.

That is, of course, unless another ‘crisis’ allows the majority another ‘opportunity’ to spend even more.

When will this madness stop? When will the American people say ‘enough is enough’? For the sake of every American taxpayer – both current and future – to whom Congress will send the bill for this incredible spending, I implore my colleagues to show some restraint – and a little common sense – and start over on this budget.”

      Rep. Latta on Obama's Budget

      Statement:
WASHINGTON- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), a member of the House Committee on the Budget, made the following statement regarding today’s proceedings:

“Now that the President’s outrageous spending plan has been revealed we must focus on massive cuts to the budget to bring this plan anywhere close to a reasonable dollar amount. This budget plan does nothing more than dump trillions of dollars on our future generations in debt payments so that we can fund new government programs right now. As we speak, families across the country are forced to make tough decisions with their personal finances and its time the federal government does the same. We simply cannot afford the plan the President has laid out,” Latta said today.

During today’s committee hearing, Congressman Latta offered an amendment to permanently repeal the estate tax.

“Permanently repealing the estate tax is an important step towards securing the financial security for our future generations. As it stands, the estate tax is an unnecessary and unfair way to punish the hard work and success built over a lifetime for families. Now more than ever, people need to be able to keep money in their pockets instead of sending it to Washington,” Latta commented after his amendment failed 13-23.

“We need to keep the government’s cold hand out of a warm grave,” Latta added.

Energy Update: Democrats Say "NO" to "All of the Above" Again

The "All of the Above" energy plan was presented by Republicans again yesterday during the budget debate as noted here:
5:30 PM - Republicans Offer an “All of the Above” Energy Amendment; Democrats Say No Again

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) offered an “All of the Above” energy amendment which would encourage the development of clean, alternative energy in the United States and support environmentally-responsible production of America’s untapped domestic energy sources. The amendment is intended to move America toward energy independence and away from its dangerous dependence on foreign oil. Again, Democrats voted against this common sense amendment.

If adopted, the amendment would have opened a portion of ANWR and other federal lands to competitive oil & gas leasing which would have resulted in an environmentally sound program for exploration and production of domestic oil and gas resources and would have dedicated receipts from bonus bids, royalties, and rental payments to the following:

      * 1/3 for a new Clean Energy Trust fund
      * 1/3 for the Highway Trust Fund
      * 1/3 for deficit reduction

Studies show that America has vast reserves of oil and natural gas that are untapped (source: House Budget Committee, Republican Staff):

      * 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the OCS
      * 10 billion barrels of oil and 4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in ANWR
      * 19.2 billion barrels of oil and 98trillion cubic feet of natural gas on other public lands
      * Possibly over 1 trillion barrels of oil in Western oil shale and tar sand
An “All of the Above” energy strategy is the best route to achieving American Energy Independence.

Butler County Update: A Follow-Up (...of sorts)

Previously, I reported that Sheriff Richard Jones has been spotted at various Lincoln Day Dinners in FULL Campaign Mode for reasons unexplained. What I didn't report, was that State Senator Gary Cates has also been spotted in similar situations...

While Sheriff Jones is probably agitating for a primary against Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- that is not the case with Senator Cates. Sources tell me that Cates is out on the trail as a Kasich surrogate (official or unofficial? I don't know, but will try to find out).

Speaking of Kasich...my good friend Kyle Sisk is seeing signs that Kasich may actually NOT pull a Fred Thompson. I've been rather agitated with Team Kasich as of late because it was looking like they weren't serious about running, but I'm going to trust Kyle since he was the first to recognize the problem in the first place.

Rep. Latta Files Discharge Petition Against Automatic Congressional Pay Raise

      Release:
WASHINGTON- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) filed a discharge petition yesterday on H.R. 581, a bill he introduced on January 15th that would eliminate the automatic pay increase Members of Congress receive. The discharge petition asks for H.R. 581 to be brought out of committee directly to the House floor for immediate consideration.

“As our constituents and Nation continue to struggle through this recession, Members of Congress cannot in good faith receive an automatic pay increase. Today’s discharge petition asks that H.R. 581, a bill I introduced on January 15th, be brought to the floor for immediate consideration,” Latta said today after filing the petition.

“I look forward to working with members in a bipartisan manner to pass this important piece of legislation as soon as possible,” Latta added.

Greene County GOP Update: Mitchel Edition

      Release:
Beavercreek , Ohio , Monday, March 23, 2009: Today, according to John Mitchel, Marilyn Reid violated his First Amendment right to free speech by confiscating copies of a news article describing a pending lawsuit against Reid, Greene County Commissioner and Executive Chair for the Greene County Republican Party. Before the monthly Greene County Republican luncheon meeting at a public restaurant, Reid gathered up the handouts that were placed on the tables, saying, “This is a Republican meeting, not a lawsuit meeting.” Former Air Force Lieutenant Colonel John Mitchel is an elected member of the Greene County Republican Central Committee and challenged Steve Austria in the March 2009 U.S. District 7 Republican primary.

In response to the incident, Mitchel commented, “Ms. Reid has taken it over the top. For years she has exploited her leadership position with the Greene County Republican Party for personal and family gain, but this flagrant violation of a constituent’s right to free political speech seals the deal on her self-interested motives. Elected members of the Greene County Central Committee who are invited to the meeting, have just as much a right to express their opinions as Ms. Reid. Apparently Marilyn has no use for dissenting viewpoints coexisting with her agenda. This is an embarrassment to the Republican Party and an insult to Greene County citizens, particularly those who have served in the military. It’s time for Ms. Reid to step down as Greene County GOP Chair in favor of someone who is willing to listen to those who may have opinions different from their own.”
Question for Mr. Mitchel: When did the Greene County GOP become the government? Just so Mr. Mitchel is aware, here is the First Amendment to our Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The Greene County GOP may be many things, but Congress is not one of them.

I'm sure there is another side to this story...and I'm sure Mitchel is just being his usual ornery self, but this is ridiculously absurd. I sure hope I don't have to school a retired Air Force Colonel on the Constitution of the United States...this was a dumb mistake and typical of his "brand" of politics. Shout down everybody who disagrees with you and make sure you throw in some scary lawyer-like sounding language. When they aren't intimidated by your antics, blast your accusations out to every media outlet and email list you have available to you.

Also: Make sure to send it to the Republican Liberty Caucus...which is --near as I can tell -- not interested in advancing the cause of Republicans or Liberty...at least in Ohio anyway.

I don't know...maybe I'm just overworked and cranky, but this press release just set me off.....

Luxury Trips: Hypocrisy, thy name is Congress

Congress is upset about luxury trips. They are ticked off. Well, maybe they should monitor their own trips (read: Pelosi, Nancy):
The U.S. Senate last month passed a measure limiting “luxury” spending for corporate travel by recipients of federal bailout funds. Two weeks later, about two dozen senators of both parties left town for political meetings on the Florida coast.

Hotel-industry leaders are seizing on those trips as ammunition in a campaign to get lawmakers and Obama administration to tone down the rhetoric against business travel, which they say is adding to their economic difficulties.

“It’s just the hypocrisy,” said Frank Fahrenkopf, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee who is president of the Washington-based American Gaming Association, one of the groups urging politicians to moderate the criticism. “We’ve got to have Washington stop beating up on us.”

On March 11, hotel executives including Jonathan M. Tisch, chairman of New York-based Loews Corp., which operates a chain of 18 hotels in North America, Bill Marriott, chairman of Bethesda, Maryland-based Marriott International Inc., the biggest U.S. lodging chain, and Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a unit of Burbank, California-based Walt Disney Co. that operates its theme parks, met with President Barack Obama and three Democratic senators to express their concern.

      Cancellations

The executives said the political attacks are having a broad effect on their business, even though the restrictions are intended to apply only to recipients of federal bailout money, and cancellations have been increasing as the rhetoric heats up.

“We’ve seen companies cancel meetings last minute, leaving 100 percent on the table just to avoid criticism and ridicule,” said Frits van Paasschen, president and chief executive of White Plains, New York-based Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., the third-largest U.S. lodging company, who attended the White House meeting.

“We’ve also seen meeting planners move meetings from resort locations to city locations, at a greater cost to their companies, again, for optics’ sake,” he said.

A preliminary survey by the U.S. Travel Association, a Washington trade group, suggests the hotel industry suffered about $1 billion in cancellations in January and February. Las Vegas has been hit especially hard, losing more than $131 million in non-gambling revenue in recent months.

On March 18, the U.S. Commerce Department reported that spending on travel and tourism fell 0.4 percent in 2008, the first yearly decline since 2001. Spending on accommodations fell 10.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Think about all the people who work in the industry who lost money, or their jobs, due to layoffs and cancellations. I thought Obama and the Dems cared about the little people. Remember Obama and Hillary spending all that time in Vegas during the primaries. Maybe Barry was learning bracketology instead of the needs of people in the hotel and travel industry. Typical liberal, talking one thing and doing another.

      But wait, there is more:
The political rhetoric “has a terrible sense of McCarthyism about it,” said Laurence Geller, president and chief executive of Chicago-based Strategic Hotels & Resorts Inc., which owns 19 properties, including the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. Geller didn’t attend the Washington meetings.

Christopher Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat who heads the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, sponsored the amendment to the $787 billion stimulus package that requires companies receiving funds from the Troubled Assets Recovery Plan to curb “excessive or luxury expenditures,” including spending on events and private jets.
Over the weekend of Feb. 27, two weeks after the Senate passed the measure, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the party fundraising arms for Senate candidates, each held their annual winter meetings in Florida.

      Naples Fundraiser

About a dozen Democrats, including Dodd, 64, gathered at the Marriott-operated Ritz-Carlton resort in Naples, Florida. Donors who gave at least $15,000 were invited and offered a “coastal view” room at the group rate of $469, according to the Democrats’ invitation.

Yes, Chris Dodd again, the Countrywide scam man.....This idiot should be frog marched to Leavenworth for all he has put America through. He is a scumbag and a disgrace to his state and his country.

Seriously, to both parties, I know we have all but thrown the Bible and God out of our governance, but there is this amazing verse which talks about worrying about the plank in your own eye before you judge the mote in your neighbor's eye.....you might want to check it out...it also has instruction on how to be a good steward of others' money....it might be useful...really....

Most Ethical, Transparent Congress Ever? NOT!: Murtha and Co.

I thought John Murtha hated the military he formerly served in. I thought he hated the contractors that profiteered off the war. Well, I guess he only hated the profiteers he wasn't receiving kickbacks and money and other fun from....
Defense contractors raked in $137 million in the past two years thanks to their political donations to Democratic Congressmen John Murtha, Jim Moran and Pete Visclosky — who all sit on the defense appropriations subcommittee.

      Which Murtha chairs.

And which had as its chief of staff Paul Magliocchetti, until he formed a lobbying company called PMA Group.

PMA’s clients naturally were defense contractors.

And in the last 20 years, PMA clients have given Murtha $2.4 million, Visclosky $1.4 million and Moran just under $1 million.

Hmmm...maybe he didn't like Blackwater and Halliburton because they weren't part of PMA? If this were a Republican, the calls for his head would be coming from all over? What is especially egregious is how Murtha may have been manipulating things against the contractors who had contracts into losing them so his buddies he provided help and earmarks for got contracts. Scary stuff.

But, I thought these last two congresses under the Pelosi family were supposed to be the most ethical and transparent ever...well, I guess transparent means blatantly corrupt....
Don Surber was on this case 2 years ago. The AP just gets in the game this week.

      From the Surber 2007 article:
In 2006, PMA Group lobbyists gave $1,333,074 to three Democratic congressmen and walked away with $100 million worth of contracts for PMA clients. That’s a return of $75 for every $1 invested in just 6 months. In 2008, look for mo’ money and mo’ Democratic congressmen to cash in.

The 3 Democratic rent-to-own congressmen are John Murtha, Jim Moran and Peter Visclosky.

On Monday Paul Singer of Roll Call said Jesus Reyes set up a political action committee on behalf of his brother, Democratic Congressman Silvestre Reyes, who heads the House Intelligence Committee.

Singer reported the Reyes PAC “raised $50,000 this spring almost entirely from staff and clients of powerhouse lobbying shop PMA Group, and within weeks, those same donors reaped millions of dollars in earmarks from Reyes and other Members of Congress closely affiliated with PMA. ”

He noted many of the donors “are long-time supporters of Reps. John Murtha (D-Pa.), Alan Mollohan (D-W.Va.) and Peter Visclosky (D-Ind.). The offices of Murtha, Mollohan and Visclosky did not respond to requests for comment last week. ”

What a crew. PMA, Mollohan, Moran, Murtha, Reyes and Visclosky, aka, Earmarks Inc.

I’m not kidding. PMA was founded by Paul Magliochetti, who worked for Murtha on the defense appropriations subcommittee. Richard Kaelin went from being Visclosky’s chief of staff to lobbying for PMA. At least one of its clients — Concurrent Technologies Corp. of a Johnstown, Pa., — was set up as a tax-exempt group by Murtha in the 1980s.

You donate — invest — rent — a congressman and he then forces the Pentagon and CIA to give you a fat contract — at a time of war.

Singer reported: “In July, those three Members and Reyes provided 12 earmarks in the House-passed Defense appropriations bill for donors to BEST PAC, totaling about $30 million.”

And conservatives thought the only kleptocracy was the UN.

And the idiots in the birthplace of our democracy, Pennsylvania, voted this scumbag Murtha back to office. Shameful and disgraceful!

Don't Be Fooled by the Mock Surprise and Outrage from Democrats in Congress

The Dems are acting like they are shocked, SHOCKED to find out about the AIG bonuses, and are instead of taking the blame, are seeking to inspire class warfare bloodshed toward those execs, painting those people as the villains. Reminds me of the French guy in Casablanca.....

The truth is that they knew about this a while ago. You don't have to take my word for it. Check out this great grab by Ed Morrissey of Hot Air:

The Dems in Congress knew about this at least back March 3rd. Ed Morrissey points this out from the video:
a March 3rd hearing of the House Ways and Means Committee in which Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) specifically mentions the upcoming payouts of over $162 million in bonuses to AIG execs

      Check out Crowley's own words:
For example, just last month, AIG paid 343 employees of AIG FP — their Financial Products division that created the financial hole that AIG is in, and in turn a multibillion-dollar bill for American taxpayers — $56 million in bonuses and are slated to pay an additional $162 million in bonuses to 393 participants in the coming weeks. And there’s more. Further bonus payments totaling approximately 230 million (dollars) are due to 407 participants at AIG’s Financial Products division in March 2010. This makes no sense to my constituency.

March 3rd. This is when it happened according to CSpan. Where was Slobbering Socialist Simp Bawrney Fhwank? Where was Geithner? They were secretly undermining our country and the confidence in the financial system, that is where they were. This is a disgrace. And it is shameful that the government would turn the mob onto private citizens when the government made the bad deal, the government put it into the bill, and some people were so caught up in demogoguery they just passed a bill without reading it!

Ed closes his piece by asking this question:
This whole episode has been a farce perpetrated by Congress and the administration to stoke artificial outrage over contractual compensation obligations. It’s a freak show put on by Democrats. They’re giving us populist circuses in order to build a mob mentality — but for what purpose?

Ed, look at your history....when the likes of Lenin, Stalin, and some Austrian paperhanger wanted to do something really really bad, what did they do? They stoked the fires to get people upset at another group and get them off of being vigilant, this allowed great atrocities to occur because people were so caught up in the mob mentality...look back at the French Rev., etc., when it became the Reign of Terror. It is all a way to develop a sense where the mob will run amok, the Reichstag will be burnt down, and a new order of "security" will be put into place. Think Senator Palpatine on an American scale.....You know, some people said that the latest Star Wars trilogy was an allegory to America....guess they just might be right....

In a sidenote, I just want to express my extreme displeasure and disappointment that my congresswoman, and a great American, Jean Schmidt, fell prey to the mob mentality and voted to overtax and retroactively seize money from the people who received the bonuses. For shame!

Rep. Latta Named to Budget Committee

      Release:
WASHINGTON- Earlier today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) was appointed to the House Committee on the Budget.

“Now more than ever, Congress must get serious about the trillions of dollars we spend each year in the budget. My constituents, as well as millions of other taxpayers across the country have made it clear that they are tired of out-of-control spending in Washington and I look forward to conveying that message for them as a member of this important committee,” Latta said today after receiving his appointment.

“Bob has an excellent record, both as a Member of Congress and the Ohio General Assembly, of fiscal responsibility and I look forward to working with him on the Committee,” Committee on the Budget Ranking Member Paul Ryan (R-WI) added.
Latta is a GREAT addition to the committee. Hopefully he can get some work done on this front.

Butler County Update - Ruscigno Edition

Intrepid reporter Josh has a story again... This time, the husband of Rawnica Dillingham-Wilson-Dillingham-Ruscigno-Dillingham -- one Joe Ruscigno -- has found his way in to the paper.

Apparently, Mr. Ruscigno provided the Internal Revenue Service with some bad information about one of the businesses that he runs with his wife ex-wife...

I should point out that Joe Ruscigno used to be finance chair for the Butler County Republican Party but that garbage had already been taken out by the time I got involved, but the fact serves as yet another reminder as to the battle we are facing.

David Pepper Refuses to Denounce Aide’s Unethical Behavior

      Release:
The Blue Chip Young Republicans denounce County Commissioner David Pepper for refusing to condemn the unethical behavior committed by a member of his staff. Several months ago the Blue Chip Young Republicans discovered and exposed the campaign finance scheme of failed candidate Scott Gehring and his wife Jen Winkelman Gehring, an Aide to Commissioner Pepper, in which Mr. Gehring raised only $7400 during his brief candidacy and paid most of it to Winkelman for the stated purpose of “private consulting”.

These suspicious payments prompted then-Club President Jeff Capell to file a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission against Gehring and Winkelman for converting campaign cash to personal use. Shortly before the first scheduled hearing, a settlement was reached which forced Winkelman to return the money to their campaign fund, which was then to be dispersed back to their donors and the local Republican Party. Those transactions have now been completed.

In December, Capell sent a letter to Commissioner Pepper asking him to join the club in a bi-partisan condemnation of this unethical behavior. Pepper never responded. Pepper’s refusal to condemn this conduct reeks of hypocrisy when compared to his previous statements.

When local blogger Nate Livingston compared Pepper to Adolph Hitler, Pepper demanded that his then-opponent Mark Mallory condemn Livingston for this behavior, even though Livingston did not work for Mallory or his campaign. Pepper’s campaign stated, “If Mallory is unwilling to rebuke one of his leading advocates for engaging in the worst kind of divisive politics, he’s clearly not a leader who can bring us together and move our City forward.”

“If David Pepper is unwilling to condemn his own employee for her blatantly unethical behavior, clearly he’s not a leader who this County can trust,” said former Club President Jeff Capell. “Pepper should be ashamed of himself for tolerating this conduct from his staff. What kind of political leader allows his employee to behave so poorly?”

The club is deeply disturbed by Commissioner Pepper’s transparent hypocrisy. In 2005 Pepper demanded that Mallory condemn a private citizen for his alleged misdeed. Less than four years later, however, Pepper refuses to condemn his own employee for her misdeed. Hypocrisy thy name is David A. Pepper.

The club is also concerned by the rumors that have Pepper running against Auditor Mary Taylor. How can David Pepper monitor Ohio’s finances when he can’t even monitor the behavior of his two-person staff?
Mary Taylor would CRUSH David Pepper...

Butler County Update: Sheriff Jones Edition

Our beloved Sheriff Jones has been spotted at Lincoln Day Dinners in Preble and Mercer counties.

Now, I know that the sheriff loves a good party, but this is certainly interesting an interesting development.

What's he thinking? If he is thinking about taking on Republican Leader, my Congressman and a Great American -- John Boehner -- in a primary fight, that would be a sure sign that our beloved sheriff has taken a header... So, that can't be it...can it?

Maybe he thought there would be some media at these events and he could get some ink in some other papers... I don't know...but if you have ideas, feel free to jump in to the comments and let us know!

They Said If I Voted for Bush We Would Have Tens of Trillions in Deficits...

...of course, Barry Obama is the one who is causing the massive deficits. In just three months, he has spent 4 times what Bush did in 8 years....Check this out from yahoo!news and the CBO:
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency, congressional auditors said Friday.

The new Congressional Budget Office figures offered a far more dire outlook for Obama's budget than the new administration predicted just last month — a deficit $2.3 trillion worse. It's a prospect even the president's own budget director called unsustainable.

In his White House run, Obama assailed the economic policies of his predecessor, but the eye-popping deficit numbers threaten to swamp his ambitious agenda of overhauling health care, exploring new energy sources and enacting scores of domestic programs.

The dismal deficit figures, if they prove to be accurate, inevitably raise the prospect that Obama and his Democratic allies controlling Congress would have to consider raising taxes after the recession ends or else pare back his agenda.

By CBO's calculation, Obama's budget would generate deficits averaging almost $1 trillion a year of red ink over 2010-2019.

Worst of all, CBO says the deficit under Obama's policies would never go below 4 percent of the size of the economy, figures that economists agree are unsustainable. By the end of the decade, the deficit would exceed 5 percent of gross domestic product, a dangerously high level.

And people trust the Dems more on the budget and the ecnonomy? Why? Do we like being in eternal debt? I sure as hell don't.

This is hope and change we can all believe in, going so far into debt we are like a friggin banana republic third world dictatorship? Disgusting!

Where are the adults to clean up this mess? We have a manchild doddering idiot as President, who cares more for his bracket for March Madness than in paying the bills and being a steward of the People's money, we have a senile old fart as the VP who makes gaffe after gaffe, so much so they hide him away until comic relief is needed, and we have a vicious old crone b**** of a Speaker who cares more for her daily morning routine of Ben and Jerry's than in doing the People's business...where are the adults to stop this car and smack some of the children around?

Another Reason for the Left to Hate Wal-Mart...

They know how to do economic stimulus right....and they don't need the government to bail them out! Here is the story:
Walmart Stores Inc is awarding approximately $2 billion to its U.S. hourly employees through financial incentives, including handing out $933.6 million in bonuses on Thursday, after the world's largest retailer gained market share amid a recession.

In a memo to Walmart employees obtained by Reuters, Walmart CEO Mike Duke said the retailer is awarding roughly $2 billion to U.S. hourly employees, which includes $933.6 million in bonuses, $788.8 million in profit sharing and 401(k) contributions, millions of dollars in merchandise discounts, and contributions to its employee stock purchase plan.

Walmart is "awarding $933.6 million in bonuses, $788.8 million in profit sharing and 401(k) contributions, millions of dollars in merchandise discounts, and contributions to its employee stock purchase plan.

"While economic challenges forced others to step back, we moved forward," said the CEO Mike Duke stated in the memo. "Duke said Walmart now needs to 'accelerate and broaden all of our efforts.' … A year ago, Walmart said it awarded almost $1.2 billion in financial incentives to its U.S. hourly employees, including more than $636.4 million in bonuses." So if you add that up, $3.2 billion in bonuses the last two years from Walmart.

Boy, the libs are going to be p.o.ed. Capitalism without union domination and subversion doing well, AND EXPANDING! YIP YIP YAHOO! Thank goodness for Wal-Mart.

Hey, do you think the Wal-Mart CEO read the proposal before he signed off on it? I bet he looked it over far more than our idiotarian inept, incompetent, petulant punk of a chief executive looked over the stimulus bill. Where the hell was we will look line by line, etc.? Nice to know they know how to run things at Wal-Mart. There may be hope for humanity after all....

Fannie and Freddie Crisis if AIG Bonuses Are Taken Back

This would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad...of course, let the thug in chief go on Letterman and maybe he can compare it to Alzheimer's patients or people with brain damage....that should make it funny, right Barry?

      Here is the story:
"By including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the measure, legislators fueled feelings of fear and betrayal at those two companies, where some employees polished their résumés and began to call headhunters who had tried to recruit them in recent months.

Where are these people going to go? Haven't they been watching as Obama has put the big ol mark for death on the financial sector's backs? But wait, here is some more:
The legislation could affect hundreds of people at the companies, which are among the largest employers in the Washington area. At Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, where salaries often range from $100,000 and $150,000, retention payments for many people are in the low-to-mid five figures. Many employees lost small fortunes -- in some cases life savings -- when the government seized the firms and wiped out almost all their shares.

What government was that? Oh yeah, our own. Ain't nationalization great for everybody? How is that tranfser of wealth going?
Employees put aside work for a time yesterday to attend meetings focused on the potential impact of the legislation, according to several employees at both companies. Workers expressed frustration that they may be penalized for decisions made by derivatives traders at AIG and top executives at banks under some of the legislation being contemplated. ... 'You can't keep people motivated if you're going to constantly stress them out,'" said one employee at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Really? You disincentivize work and people decide to go elsewhere? Gosh, that doesn't seem very hope/changey. I thought Massa Obama was going to get us all cars and free gas and stuff. I thought Nancy Pelosi was all about giving to the little guy. See, that is who is getting nailed at AIG and even in this story about Fannie and Freddie. The execs, like Jamie Gorelick and Franklin Raines, they absconded with hundreds of millions in bonuses and ill gotten booty. They were bought out by the government, etc. Now, we are going to punish the working schleps.

However, you can't really feel for the folks at Fan or Fred. Where were they when the flap was only on AIG? Where were they? It goes back to that old thing...first they came for the Jews, and I did nothing. Then they came for the gays...and I did nothing...then they came for the catholics, the infirm, the retarded, and I did nothing....when they came for me, there was no one else to speak out...Gee, what type of administration was that said about again? Begins with an F.....hmmm....it is equally appropo now.

Wake up America! Your government is trying to pwn you in everyway possible...rise up, stand tall against fascism and socialism in our midst. See the destruction that a house for every hood from the 70s and 90s has brought us....Arise, stand and be counted!

Someone Call A Fat Faux Documentarian Actual Propagandist's Office....

Imagine a time when a President is more concerned with trivialities than in solving the problems that confront a country. Imagine a time when the country is on the brink and the President is cracking jokes about the handicapped or is too busy thinking about UNC basketball to make sure your money isn't going into multi-million dollar bonuses? Am I talking about the evil Bush regime, out playing golf after 9/11? Am I talking about Bush daring to throw out a first pitch when our nation is at war? Nope. I am talking about Fahrenheit 3/09, where the incompetent boob who sits in the big chair in the Oval Office is more concerned about his March Madness picks and dissecting who will win than in making sure your money is being spent wisely. I am talking about a petulant punk of a President who gets his yuks from comparing his poor bowling game to disabled athletes struggling for the best of their abilities in real competition.
      Look at these examples:

Disgusting. I know special olympians who bowl far over a 129 Mr. Incompetence. Please don't disparage them. Even those who don't know better than to sign something without reading it, as you have been doing to stimulus bills and budgets, you feeblehearted buffoon! But wait, rather than reading legislation or making sure Geithner is on top of things, Obama had REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS to discuss...on ESPN...

Gee, isn't it great Obama knows his basketball but can't find any intellgent comments on the economy without his teleprompter! Isn't it outstanding that Obama even bows to cronyism (duke people in his coterie)in making decisions? Shouldn't this great intellectual acumen be turned to actually reading bills and making sure your money is being spent wisely?

Someone make this movie....tell the world what a mistake we have made. I saw a bumper sticker today that said something like "trillion dollar war: who can afford healthcare" in reference to Bush's spending. However, in just 3 months, Obama has set up more spending than W did in 8 years! Wake up people!

Feel free to offer movie posters for this American tragedy and we will post them. Fahrenheit 3/09: Incompetence in Chief, or add your own subtitle.

It is just disgusting that this guy thinks showing up on ESPN and Leno is going to blind people, and it is disheartening that so many people are buying it. This guy is a feeb. He is a crock of garbage. He does nothing but namedrop and engage in useless rhetoric, and doesn't even read what he signs, then acts outraged because the letter of the bill he signed was carried out (see bonuses, AIG). Obama is nothing more than a master of bait and switch, shuck and jive.

If W were doing this, the left would be outraged, saying why isn't he focused on the problems before our country? Again, the sad double standards. W stopped vacations and playing golf when America was in crisis. Obama goes out and gets laughs at the expense of the handicapped. How nice....how typically liberal.

More Boehner on AIG: Blame Incompetent President and Dem Majority In Congress

The descriptors for the Thug In Chief and his minions in the Capitol are mine, not Mr. Boehner's. Here is his column for today, 3/20/09:
Shock & Outrage That Could Have Been Avoided

If you’ve been watching the news lately, you’ve been treated to Washington’s favorite parlor game: Whose Fault Was It? Whose fault was it that a bill written in secret and passed without legislative or public review protected bonuses about to be paid to executives at AIG? Whose fault was it that this provision was slipped into the bill at the 11th hour? And whose fault is it that you, the taxpayers, learned of it too late?

When the U.S. House and Senate pass different versions of legislation, they enter into what is called “Conference Committee” to sort out the differences. The bonus provision was not included in the House version nor in the Senate version; it was inserted during this Conference that drafted the final version that both Chambers would eventually pass by partisan margins.

One thing I can tell you is that congressional Republicans had nothing to do with the so-called “stimulus” bill that contained this bonus provision. In fact, every House Republican voted against it. Although we presented our plan to the White House that would have created 6.2 million jobs by the end of 2010, congressional Democrats rejected our ideas outright. Instead, they rammed through an 1,100-page bill that no one had time to read, and now we know why: had lawmakers and the public been given time to read this legislation, American taxpayers might never have been on the hook for these bonus payments and the recent Capitol Hill Circus might never have come to town.

Lawmakers who either knew about the bonus clause and voted for the “stimulus” bill or who didn’t read the bill before voting for it stood before TV cameras to declare their shock and outrage. A nonbinding resolution complimenting the President for his efforts to retrieve the bonuses went down in ironic flames when congressional Democrats couldn’t round up the votes to pass it. And all the while, President Obama has proclaimed that he has full confidence in Treasury Secretary Geithner, despite the fact that Geithner and his office instructed Senate Democrats to add the AIG provision to the bill, then apparently failed to tell the President that the language was in the bill when he signed it.

The sham legislation passed by Congress is completely unnecessary as the Treasury Department has the power to recoup 100 percent of these tax dollars. But if lawmakers were so inclined to pass a bill to get that money back, why not pass the House Republican measure that would have instructed the Treasury Department to recoup 100 percent of the money immediately? How is it a fair deal to taxpayers to get some of the money back a year later instead of all of the money back right now?

One thing that was made clear in the last election is that the American people are sick and tired of politics as usual. They’re tired of outraged politicians railing against the very bills they voted for. They’re tired of the finger pointing and the games. What’s happened on Capitol Hill in the last few weeks isn’t the change that voters thought they were getting. It’s partisan games, parliamentary trickery, class warfare, and tax-and-spend the likes of which we’ve never seen wrapped up in pretty words and supposed altruistic motives.

Bottom Line: Geitner is a clown and must go....but what did the President know and when did he really know it? And what role did his teleprompter play in this?

On AIG: Boehner is Both Right and Wrong, BizzyBlog is Right!

The House Minority Leader, Matt's Congressman, and a great American, John Boehner, has released some interesting information and data recently, which I am going to try to encapsulate. Some of it you may have seen elsewhere, but so what? My blog, I can put up what I want. OK, here goes. First, Boehner is right on when he releases this video about the AIG bonuses and the Stimulus Bill:

However, he is dead wrong in his assertion that we need to take those bonuses back from people. These bonuses were snuck in, but they were by contract already in the contracts of AIG's workers. In America, we honor contracts. In America, word is bond, even if the deal sucks. In America, if we make a mistake, we fix it next time and suffer the current consequences. Mr. Boehner, you in this grandstanding ploy of seeking to get the bonuses back, are not answering the questions you raise in your opening remarks in this video:

Mr. Boehner, you talk about the irresponsibility of your brothers in Congress. Why don't we get some of their salaries back? Why don't you all give back some of your money? Why doesn't the administration? Quit quibbling over who would have done a better bill and instead inquire about this shadow insertion in the stimulus bill. Instead of seeking to capitalize on the moblike rage against AIG, why not seek to do more to educate Americans and hold yourselves in the Congress accountable. Bizzyblog has more:
That said, I totally disagree with the Boehner’s proposal to take 100% of the bonuses back, for three reasons:

      * One, a deal is a deal, and to the extent these bonuses were supported by contracts, changing them after the fact will introduce even more uncertainty into the economy about how solid any and all contracts are. That said, if the contractual language is as clear as I understand it is, bonuses should be retrieved from those AIG execs who contractually promised to stay and then, once the direct deposits were made, took the money and ran. Though obviously larger amounts are involved, this is is no different than forcing an employee inadvertently overpaid by a company’s payroll system to give back the amount mistakenly paid. My understanding is that an employee who tries to hang on to the money in this kind of situation can be criminally prosecuted for theft if they balk at repaying. Again, if the contractual language is ironclad, the AIG execs who took the money and ran also committed theft — very grand theft.
      * Second, retroactive targeted taxation of legally completed transactions under laws that existed at the time of those transactions is, or certainly should be, illegal.
      * Finally, as a political move, letting the bonuses stand — which I believe is the only legally defensible option anyway — would create ammunition opponents can use against any and all congressmen and senators who supported the stimulus monstrosity. Those who voted for the bill agreed to allow the AIG bonuses to be paid because they didn’t read the bill. This happened because they didn’t insist on having the time to read the bill. Plainly stated, they didn’t do the job they were elected to do, and they richly deserve to be stuck with the political consequences of that dereliction of duty. It is all on them. They shouldn’t be given cover, as Boehner is doing, by agreeing with the idea that pulling back any of the legally paid and keepable bonuses is okay. It isn’t.

Look, shame the Democrats who overwhelmingly passed this bill without reading it. Shame the thug, incompetent, moronic President who signed this bill, then acted outraged when the bonuses were paid PER THE LANGUAGE IN THE BILL!!!! However, don't seek to destroy confidence in the people with their contracts and such by retroactively taxing things. Admit the mistake, hold those who did it accountable, and make sure it doesn't happen again. The political grandstanding for seeking who can be the most harsh on AIG execs just doesn't wash, and is akin to joining in the mob mentality of demonizing people and leading to the harassment discussed in this article.

However, John Boehner came out righteously swinging on the Kilroy resolution yesterday as well:
IS THIS THE “NEW ERA OF RESPONSIBILITY” PRESIDENT OBAMA PROMISED?

      March 19, 2009 | House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) | Permalink

The Democrats’ half-hearted attempt to recover some of the AIG executive bonuses a year or more from now is receiving the bulk of the attention on Capitol Hill today, but Democrats are quietly trying to sneak through a second measure intended to absolve themselves of their guilt in the AIG executive bonuses fiasco. The resolution – sponsored by Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH), who voted TWICE this week to kill a bill by Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) that would have recouped 100 percent of the taxpayer-funded bonuses paid to executives in the Democratic AIG fiasco – declares that all of the actions taken by the President, the Secretary of the Treasury, and Congress to date with respect to issues of executive compensation have been the correct actions.

      Seriously?

Over the last several days, Washington Democrats have engaged in a virtual circular firing squad as they attempt to pass – and dodge – blame for this mess. Now that the smoke is beginning to clear, here’s what we know: someone inside the Obama Administration asked Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill to change the trillion-dollar “stimulus” spending bill to allow the AIG executive bonuses. In other words, responsibility for this free-for-all lies at the feet of the very people scrambling to provide themselves political cover. How convenient.

Furthermore, the Kilroy resolution raises some more fundamental and, frankly, troubling questions about where responsibility lies in Washington on matters of executive compensation – and lawmaking generally. For example:

      · By voting yes on the Kilroy resolution, does it mean it is the sense of Congress that the President of the United States does not have a responsibility to know what is in the legislation he’s signing? After all, he signed the “stimulus,” which allowed the AIG executive payments. If the buck stops with him, as he affirmed yesterday, does this resolution imply otherwise?

      * By voting yes on Kilroy resolution, does it mean it is the sense of Congress that the Secretary of the Treasury and the Administration were correct in failing to act when they learned of the AIG bonuses would be given out? After all, Secretary Geithner told congressional leaders he learned of AIG bonuses only on March 10th, but the Federal Reserve informed the Treasury about the bonuses on February 28th – that’s 10 days before Treasury staffers said they learned “full details” of the bonuses and three days before the new $30 billion cash infusion went to AIG.

      · By voting yes on Kilroy resolution, does it mean it is the sense of Congress that Secretary of the Treasury was correct in failing to tell the President that this AIG giveaway was in the bill? After all, we’ve learned that a Treasury official is the one who asked Democratic leaders to include language allowing the AIG bonuses.

      · By voting yes on Kilroy resolution, does it mean it is the sense of Congress that House and Senate Democratic leaders were right to rush a vote on the stimulus bill without giving the American people, including the President of the United States, adequate time to read the bill? After all, House Republicans called for the bill to be posted online for at least 48 hours, but Democrats rejected the request – spurring House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) to drop the bill on the House floor in disgust.

President Obama speaks of the “new era of responsibility” in Washington – rhetoric that congressional Democrats are happy to repeat as often as possible. The sad fact is, the Kilroy resolution makes a mockery out of it. Instead, it is meant to absolve Washington Democrats of their responsibility for allowing the taxpayer-funded executive bonuses. The American people deserve better than this. They deserve better solutions – such as the GOP bill rejected by House Democrats TWICE to get 100 PERCENT of taxpayers’ money back IMMEDIATELY. Unfortunately, Washington Democrats aren’t providing them.

Latta Co-Sponsors Veterans Health Care Bill

      Statement:
WASHINGTON- Today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) signed on as a co-sponsor to H.Res. 249, a resolution sponsored by Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).

H.Res. 249 “Expresses the sense of the United States House of Representatives that the Department of Veterans Affairs should take full responsibility for financing the health care benefits earned by veterans with service-connected disabilities.”

Earlier this week, President Obama suggested, then backtracked on a proposed policy that would require some disabled veterans to pay for medical treatments as a result of service-connected injuries through their private insurance.

“I am proud to co-sponsor H.Res. 249 to ensure that the VA continues to cover medical costs for our veterans who have service-related injuries. Our wounded heroes have already made sacrifices for our Nation and it is unthinkable to ask them to pay for medical costs associated with their brave service. I ask that this resolution be brought to the House floor for immediate consideration and passage.”

      Youngstown John Update

Youngstown John Boccieri is up to his usual shenanigans this week. Not only did he sign on to co-sponsor the inherently anti-American Employee Free Choice Act – also known as Card Check – last week, but now he has voted to block a bill that would have helped the government recoup the taxpayer-funded bonuses AIG executives received!

Throughout his political career, Boccieri has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign cash from big labor bosses, so it’s no surprise he’s returning the favor and co-sponsoring Card Check. As many of you know, Card Check will end the secret ballot in the workplace. The secret ballot is a sacred institution in our society, and I believe wanting to end the secret ballot in the workplace is simply anti-American. For those of you there keeping score, there’s a reason far-left figures such as former Democratic Presidential candidate George McGovern are opposing Card Check…

It has been revealed that Sen. Chris Dodd, another Democrat, inserted a provision in the stimulus bill that gave hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to the executives of AIG – the same executives that ran AIG into the ground. In response, HB 131 was introduced. HB 131 would, amongst other things, direct the Treasury Secretary to recoup the bonuses and prevent tax dollars from going to AIG until the bonuses are recouped. Boccieri always talks about fighting for the middle class, but yet he’s willing to stand up for AIG executives who took hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars to pay bonuses. Chalk that up as another campaign promise that he’s now ignoring…
