By Matt for the TIB Network:

Mark and I did our show live and direct yesterday afternoon; grabbed a bite to eat; and then headed over to Blue Ash, OH for a rally with some amazing talent: Neal Boortz, Willie Cunningham, Ollie North, Bill Bennett, and Sean Hannity.

Today, we are headed to Great American Ball Park for our third time seeing President Bush.

OUTSTANDING!

I'll do a write up tomorrow, but we're having a really good time here in southwestern Ohio this weekend!

Sox Winner

From MSNBC:
Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who urged people to vote for President Bush on a national television show Thursday, will appear with the president on Friday in New Hampshire, a campaign spokeswoman said.

At the end of his interview about his team's World Series victory on ABC's "Good Morning America," Schilling signed off: "Tell everybody to vote. And vote Bush next week."
What can I say, Curt knows a winner when he sees one...

The Tape ABC Doesn't Want You To See.

Here is an excerpt:
"No, my fellow countrymen you are guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty. You are as guilty as Bush and Cheney. You're as guilty as Rumsfeld and Ashcroft and Powell," he says in what he calls his message to America. "After decades of American tyranny and oppression, now it's your turn to die. Allah willing, the streets of America will run red with blood matching drop for drop the blood of America's victims."
It is time to show the tape. BEFORE the election. The American people have a right to know.

75th Exploitation Task Force Inspeced Site

From the Washington Times:
The Pentagon disclosed yesterday that the Al-Qaqaa facility was defended by Fedayeen Saddam, Special Republican Guard and other Iraqi military units during the conflict. U.S. forces defeated the defenders around April 3 and found the gates to the facility open, the Pentagon said in a statement yesterday.

A military unit in charge of searching for weapons, the Army's 75th Exploitation Task Force, then inspected Al-Qaqaa on May 8, May 11 and May 27, 2003, and found no high explosives that had been monitored in the past by the IAEA.

The Pentagon said there was no evidence of large-scale movement of explosives from the facility after April 6.

"The movement of 377 tons of heavy ordnance would have required dozens of heavy trucks and equipment moving along the same roadways as U.S. combat divisions occupied continually for weeks prior to and subsequent to the 3rd Infantry Division's arrival at the facility," the statement said.

Just How Much 'Stuff' Are We Talking About Here?

ABC News says they have an IAEA document showing that there were only 3 tons at that site in al Qaqaa...
The Iraqi interim government has told the United States and international weapons inspectors that 377 tons of conventional explosives are missing from the Al-Qaqaa installation, which was supposed to be under U.S. military control.

But International Atomic Energy Agency documents obtained by ABC News and first reported on "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings" indicate the amount of missing explosives may be substantially less than the Iraqis reported.

The information on which the Iraqi Science Ministry based an Oct. 10 memo in which it reported that 377 tons of RDX explosives were missing — presumably stolen due to a lack of security — was based on "declaration" from July 15, 2002. At that time, the Iraqis said there were 141 tons of RDX explosives at the facility.

But the confidential IAEA documents obtained by ABC News show that on Jan. 14, 2003, the agency's inspectors recorded that just over three tons of RDX were stored at the facility — a considerable discrepancy from what the Iraqis reported.

The IAEA documents could mean that 138 tons of explosives were removed from the facility long before the United States launched "Operation Iraqi Freedom" in March 2003.
So...let's recap...in the vernacular of the Left these days, John Kerry and his ENTIRE campaign staff and his surrogates have been "lying" to the American people the last couple of days.

I'm just saying...

This isn't an issue that will decide the election.

It is an important issue to discover what actually happened. And I do think it is important that the media get the story...you know...right. Preferably from the beginning.

Speaking of Weapons Caches

This one is for you, Pete...

The Toronto Sun recently reported on the discovery of a weapons cache in Afghanistan that was under the control of Belgian troops.
Littered with burned out Soviet military vehicles, the whole area is a junk pile strewn with every sort of live ammunition, fuses, unexploded shells, rockets, etc., all supposedly under the authority of Belgian troops (at the moment), who ignored it.

In the midst of examining the bunkers and taking photos, a Swedish UN guy, a French major and a German colonel arrived to make a fuss and order the Canadians to leave. The French major insisted his government had a deal with the Afghan government for the area, and ISAF had no business being there.

This cut little ice with Maj. Hynes, who is responsible -- not to the commander of Camp Julien, Col. Jim Ellis -- but to the ANA, which has now moved in to secure the site.

The French major was clearly bluffing, hadn't checked the bunkers and got a classic Canadian roasting from Maj. Hynes -- who was supported by a German general who was also appalled at the laxity.

"Now we've stirred up the hornet's nest," grinned Maj. Hynes. "Good. Now we may get some action."
Emphasis added.

So...Pete... While we're playing the blame game...how many Coalition troops have been attacked with these weapons?

Kerry/Edwards Misleads America...Again

Source:
DeafRepublicans (www.DeafRepublicans.com), a national grassroots organization comprised of deaf and hard of hearing Republicans issued a statement today in response to a press release issued by the Kerry Edwards campaign on behalf of a group which purports to speak for the entire deaf and hard of hearing population in the U.S.

DeafRepublicans today repudiated recent statements by Gregory Hlibok, Co-Chair of the National Deaf and Hard of Hearing Americans for Kerry-Edwards Steering Committee, in which Hlibok claims his group "speaks to the confidence and commitment of America's 27 million Americans with hearing loss have (sic) in John Kerry." DeafRepublicans strenuously objects to this fictitious declaration of endorsement, and disputes their claim that John Kerry has a "proven record" on disabilities.

Richard Brklacich, of DeafRepublicans, today said in response to the statement released by the Kerry-Edwards Deaf and Hard of Hearing Steering Committee, "While they are entitled to their own opinions about their candidate, they are most certainly not at liberty to speak for the entire deaf and hard of hearing community, many of whom are active supporters and volunteers for the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign and within the Republican Party". Brklacich adds, "We take offense to their presumptuous claim of endorsement by a community that is as diverse in their ideas and beliefs as America's general population. We call upon the Kerry- Edwards Committee to publicly acknowledge that they, in fact, do not speak for the entire deaf and hard of hearing community, and to admit that the only figure that they can safely count on with any degree of certainty to endorse Kerry is fourteen, the number of people in their committee".

The members of DeafRepublicans take particular offense to the implication that all "27 million Americans with hearing loss" are securely within Kerry's 'win' column, and argues that this false perception has had the consequence of having the disability community's issues and concerns largely neglected by an overly confident Democratic party. DeafRepublicans also observes that the inflated figure of "27 million" cited in the Kerry-Edwards release, which would include popular conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh who experienced the complete loss of his hearing three years ago, purports to speak for all Americans with even the mildest hearing loss, such as senior citizens, construction workers, musicians and airport ground maintenance workers.

DeafRepublicans points out that it was during a Republican Administration under President George H.W. Bush, that the landmark legislation, The American with Disabilities Act, was signed into law in 1990.

Other important Republican accomplishments on disability issues include:

-- The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (President Richard Nixon)

-- Supplemental Security Disability Income (President Dwight D. Eisenhower)

-- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (President Gerald Ford)

-- The New Freedom Initiative (President George W. Bush)

-- Nationwide launch of 711 Relay Service for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (President George W. Bush)

-- Nationwide launch of Video Relay Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (President George W. Bush)

-- The No Child Left Behind Act , which increased funding for IDEA special education funds by 59 percent since 2001 to $10.1 billion. (President George W. Bush)

-- The implementation of The Ticket to Work Act which enabled SSI and SSDI recipients to obtain job training and health care coverage while preparing to re-enter the workforce. (President George W. Bush)

John Kerry's paltry record on disabilities, however, stands in stark contrast to the many noteworthy accomplishments of his opponent, President George W. Bush. In his 20-year Senate history, John Kerry has failed to sponsor or create a single piece of legislation that relates to the issue of disabilities that successfully passed the Senate. Of the nine disability- related Senate bills for which John Kerry claims credit, all died in committee except one that passed: The Americans with Disabilities Act, written by Senator Tom Harkin and co-sponsored by a bi-partisan group of sixty-three Republican and Democratic senators (which included John Kerry), and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush, a Republican President.

"In fact, the only impressive thing about John Kerry's record on disability issues is the fact that he does not even have one," said Richard Brklacich, "John Kerry introduced over 300 bills but passed only 5, none having anything to do with issues relating to disability."

DeafRepublicans ask each and every disabled American to take a close look at both candidates, and to vote on November 2nd for the only presidential candidate with a real record on disability- rights: George W. Bush.

About DeafRepublicans:

Deaf Republicans is a grassroots organization formed to foster the principles and values of the Republican Party within the deaf and hard of hearing community. The mission of Deaf Republicans is to build a national grassroots network within the deaf and hard of hearing community through which Republican ideals and beliefs can be articulated and embraced. Deaf Republicans believe that for our issues and concerns to be heard by politicians, the deaf and hard of hearing community must be represented on both sides of the political spectrum. Deaf Republicans will seek to develop and nurture relationships between the deaf and hard of hearing community and Republican leaders.

DeafRepublicans recently launched their new website, and plans to unveil, on each day leading up to Election Day on November 2, 2004, a new webpage, followed by an e-mail campaign, dedicated to issues important to the deaf and hard of hearing community in this Presidential Campaign.

3rd Infantry Division Checked It Out

CBS (of all places) has the report:
U.S. troops found thousands of boxes of white powder, nerve agent antidote and Arabic documents on how to engage in chemical warfare at an industrial site south of Baghdad. But a senior U.S. official familiar with initial testing said the materials were believed to be explosives.

Col. John Peabody, engineer brigade commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, said the materials were found Friday at the Latifiyah industrial complex just south of Baghdad.

"It is clearly a suspicious site," Peabody said.

CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin reports that the hunt for weapons of mass destruction continues at sites where the U.S. thought chemicals weapons might be hidden.

"And although there are no reports of actual weapons being found, there are constant finds of suspicious material," Martin said. "It obviously will take laboratory testing to find out exactly what that powder is."

The senior U.S. official, based in Washington and speaking on condition of anonymity, said the material was under further study. The site is enormous and U.S. troops are still investigating it for potential weapons of mass destruction, the official said.

"Initial reports are that the material is probably just explosives, but we're still going through the place," the official said.

Peabody said troops found thousands of boxes, each of which contained three vials of white powder, together with documents written in Arabic that dealt with how to engage in chemical warfare.

He also said they discovered atropine, used to counter the effects of nerve agents.

The facility had been identified by the International Atomic Energy Agency as a suspected chemical, biological and nuclear weapons site. U.N. inspectors visited the plant at least nine times, including as recently as Feb. 18.

The facility is part of a larger complex known as the Latifiyah Explosives and Ammunition Plant al Qa Qaa.
This doesn't sound like 380 tons of ANYTHING.

John Kerry Delenda Est!

Urgent Warning About Explosives in Iraq

...was sent to the UN/IAEA in 1995 by...

Wait for it...

Charles Duelfer.

Get the details here but here is the meat of it:
Nine years ago, U.N. weapons inspectors urgently called on the International Atomic Energy Agency to demolish powerful plastic explosives in a facility that Iraq's interim government said this month was looted due to poor security.

The chief American weapons inspector, Charles Duelfer, told The New York Sun yesterday that in 1995, when he was a member of the U.N. inspections team in Iraq, he urged the United Nations' atomic watchdog to remove tons of explosives that have since been declared missing.

Mr. Duelfer said he was rebuffed at the time by the Vienna-based agency because its officials were not convinced the presence of the HMX, RDX, and PETN explosives was directly related to Saddam Hussein's programs to amass weapons of mass destruction.
But here is a bit that I find personally amusing...
Until this week, the Kerry campaign had used the assessments of the weapons inspectors to bludgeon the Bush administration for failing to substantiate the assertions it presented in March 2003 to justify the war. But yesterday the Kerry campaign launched an advertisement touting the failure to account for the explosives at Al Qaqaa as evidence of the president's incompetence.
Think about that for a minute... That's right, career opportunism again...

Mark's Remarks

Yes, the Kerry campaign has been reading Joe Goebbels's handbook again. They are spreading big lies, and they have the help of a media to further them. This reeks of fascism, and it is being perpetuated by the Left, who claims to love liberty.

Back to the story. You mean to tell me that a UN related organization like the IAEA is inept? You mean to tell me that the IAEA allowed Saddam to get his way, to let weapons fester, for almost 10 YEARS?!??!?!? Surely not, I mean, this is the same organization that John Kerry said on CNN in 1994 he wanted US soldiers to die under the UN banner rather than the US banner. Disgraceful and shameful, the culpability, ineptitude, and corruption in the UN and the IAEA in allowing a madman to continue to get his way and pander to him. Shameful, and reminiscent of the Petains, the Chamberlains, and the Belgians in the 1930s.

Kerry/Edwards Have Questions

Source

Chad and Phil are jumping on the NYT/CBS bandwagon on this breaking non-story from April of 2003. They have some questions that they want President Bush to answer... Now, I don't speak for the White House, but I thought I'd give it a shot:
1. Why did the Administration assign such a low priority to securing explosives, munitions and weapons in Iraq?
The administration did NOT assign such a low priority to securing explosives or any other kinds of weapons. The FACT is that these explosives were gone BEFORE the 101st Airborne got there.
2. The Bush Administration says that it ordered the Iraq Survey Group to look into what happened to the 380 tons of missing explosives (during October 25 briefing, Scott McClellan said it four times) but the head of the unit, Charles Duelfer, says he has not received any orders to do so. What are the facts?
Show me where Charles Duelfer said that? I didn't find it ANYWHERE via Google... Would Chad and Phil manufacture Duelfer quotes? I dunno...
3. What is the chronology of action taken by the Bush Administration after being informed that the explosives had gone missing? Who knew what when? When was the civilian leadership at the Pentagon told about the missing explosives? When did Secretary Rumsfeld learn that the explosives had gone missing? When was the President's National Security Council informed? When National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice briefed on this? When was the President told? And what action was taken?
I'd venture a guess that all of the above were informed in April of 2003 when the rest of us were...
4. Why did the Bush Administration deny the International Atomic Energy Agency's request to back into Iraq to verify the status of the stockpile?
Because the IAEA had it's own agenda. That's how I'd answer the question. There were enough cooks in the kitchen with the ISG in there...
5. What action did Paul Bremer take after reportedly being warned in May 2004 that the explosives had gone missing?
Well, if Bremer was informed a YEAR after the explosives went missing, I'd say that was a problem. Somehow, I don't think that was the case. I can't speak to what actions Bremer may have taken after bieng informed a YEAR after the event took place. I'd have to think he'd have had nothing to do with it...
6. The 380 tons of missing explosives are the tip of the iceberg. Duelfer reportedly said he wasn't concerned about al Qaqaa because that Iraq is awash in hundreds of thousands of tons of explosives. Is there an estimate of the total amount of munitions, weapons and explosives that have gone missing in Iraq?
No one knows that Chad/Phil... Here's what we DO KNOW: U.S. forces have destroyed more than 243,000 tons of munitions since the end of major combat and have almost 163,000 tons more marked for destruction. (Source - registration required)
7. Since 2003, how many attacks on our troops in Iraq or terrorist bombings in Iraq, Egypt or elsewhere have been carried out using HMX, RDX or PETN -- the same kind of explosive that went missing from al Qaqaa?
The allegation here is that the missing explosives have been used in attacks against American troops (no reports of these kinds of explosives have been reported against coalition troops - at least none that I have found) or in terrorist bombings around the world. No one knows that either. Not Chad. Not Phil. And not John Kerry. NO. BODY. KNOWS. Politics is the motive behind these questions, not concern. And it smells. BAD.

These two hacks are among the worst of the bunch at Kerry/Edwards...the American people, the Democratic Party, and John Kerry are not being served by this kind of nonsense.

Mark's Remarks

I have some questions for Kerry/Edwards. 1. Why, if intel is so important, has Sen. Kerry missed over 3/4 of the committee meetings? 2. Why is it that, if being on the ball is important, that Senator Edwards is known as Senator Gone by his own hometown paper? 3. Why is it that Sen. Kerry talks about former military men supporting him, who, if he had his way, would never have conducted the first Gulf War? 4. Why is it that, if Sen. Kerry cares so much about soldiers, that he continues to destroy their integrity by bogusly talking about the explosives that WERE ALREADY GONE when the military arrived? 5. Why is it that he hasn't recanted his testimony, especially when all investigations into Winter Soldier have shown them to be bogus allegations?

Just some thoughts....let's see if Chad and Phil can bumble their way through this one...Maybe it would help to give them some balloons....

Latino Coalition Endorses Bush

Source
The Board of Directors of The Latino Coalition (TLC) and over twenty other Hispanic organizations and heads of organizations from across the country, today announced they will support the reelection of President George W. Bush.

"President Bush knows and understands the Hispanic community better than any other President before him," said TLC Vice Chairman Susan Alvarado. "He has appointed more Hispanics to the highest levels of government than any other President before him. He has taken the lead to address key issues that will improve the lives of Latino families all across the country, such as the No Child Left Behind education reform program, his tax cuts for working families, his proposal to reform our immigration system, his trade agreements within our hemisphere, and his efforts to assist uninsured Hispanic workers get access to affordable health insurance. But above all, he has been a strong and decisive leader on making sure that America is safe and secure, and that we win the war on terrorism."

On the other hand, the TLC Board cited the unimpressive and lackluster record of Senator John Kerry. "Throughout his career in the United States Senate, John Kerry has all but ignored the Latino community," said TLC President Robert Deposada. "In 20 years as a Senator, Kerry has not sponsored or co-sponsored any legislation to reform our immigration system, or to reform education, or to help uninsured workers get access to affordable health insurance. Also, he has been as inconsistent with his policies on trade with Latin America or on Castro's Cuba, as he has been with the War in Iraq. Clearly, this man does not have the decisiveness and the vision we need in a President, particularly at a time of war."

"His record in the U.S. Senate is so unimpressive on issues affecting Latinos, that a large number of Hispanic registered Democrats are crossing party lines to support President George W. Bush," Deposada added. "His many empty promises in the midst of a political campaign are falling on deaf ears, simply because he doesn't have the credibility in our community. We have yet to find a single high-level Hispanic appointment during his 20 years in the U.S. Senate or while he served as Massachusetts Lt. Governor. So when he talks about looking out for our community, most people realize that he cannot be effective, simply because he doesn't know or understand us."

Over 20 Hispanic organizations and the leaders of many organizations joined The Latino Coalition in endorsing the reelection of President Bush.

"In 2000, I voted for Al Gore for President. I am a registered Democrat and was not a fan of George W. Bush," said Hispanic Business Roundtable Board Member Elizabeth Fernandez, a registered Democrat in Fairfax, Virginia. "But after 9-11, as a mother of two girls, I began to admire the man. He is clearly a man of conviction, a strong and decisive leader and a man who I know will keep America, and therefore my family, safe and secure."

"I am the perfect example of the security mom. While I might not agree with him on all issues, I do believe that the security of our country against terrorist has to be our number one priority," Mrs. Fernandez added. "Domestic issues are secondary to our national security, simply because we witnessed first hand that another large scale attack on our country, could be devastating to our economy and all other appropriation spending on new domestic programs. This will be the first time I vote for a Republican candidate for President. But I do it because the security of my family and my country, is far more important than party labels."

"As a registered Democrat and an immigration attorney, I was looking forward to supporting my party's nominee to promote an agenda to help our community. But after a careful look at Senator Kerry's record, I cannot support his candidacy," said National Hispanic Restaurant Association Board Member Manuel Solis, of Houston, Texas and owner of the largest immigration law firm in the U.S. "In 20 years in the U.S. Senate, John Kerry has not sponsored or co-sponsored a single immigration reform bill. If he ignored our community for 20 years, why should we believe his empty promises in the middle of a political campaign? This will be the first time I vote for a Republican candidate for President, because I am convinced that George Bush knows our community and had the courage to address the immigration issue and propose a common sense approach to help the most vulnerable in our community."

"John Kerry says that he represents Hispanic values, but his record shows the opposite," said Rev. Arturo Soto, President of the Hispanic Clergy Association of New Jersey. "The Hispanic values are based on the strength of our families, and John Kerry's record in the U.S. Senate has not been pro-family. He has consistently voted against requiring that parents be notified before their teenage daughters have an abortion. He was one of the only 14 Senators who voted against the Defense of Marriage Act, signed by President Clinton, which defined marriage as only the union between a man and a woman. He opposed giving parents the choice to select the best school for their children and voted against tax relief for married couples with underage children. This is not the record of a politician that represents Hispanic values."

"We need a President who understands and knows the Hispanic community and particularly our business community," said Julio Gudino, a registered Democrat and business owner in Norwalk, California and member of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Business Roundtable. "Senator Kerry has ignored our community for 20 years in the United States Senate, so why should we believe his promises now? His record on issues affecting the Hispanic community is very disappointing. This will be the first time in my life that I will vote for a Republican candidate for President, simply because I have seen Kerry's record, and I simply cannot support him."

"As first responders, we have seen first hand the leadership and commitment of President Bush," said Ed Davis, President of the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters. "President Bush has been there every step of the way for our Hispanic firefighters throughout the country. While we have not always seen eye to eye, he reached out to us. He knows and understands the Hispanic community and has been our friend. He deserves our support."

"If you're in the military, you want a Commander in Chief who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you and fulfill the commitment to our men and women in the armed forces," said Bob Archuleta, Los Angeles County Commissioner for Military and Veteran Affairs and a member of the National Latino Peace Officers Association. "In President Bush we have a Commander in Chief who knows what he believes in and knows what he stands for. We as veterans and those currently serving in our armed forces feel that our nation is behind us and have a President that will not let us down."

"The last thing that our men and women in the field need, particularly those who face danger every day, is a Commander in Chief that will change his mind every time the going gets rough," Archuleta added. "We need steady leadership, and when I speak to many of my veteran colleagues, who like me are registered Democrats, we all agree that we can't gamble with the unknown. And the message that comes across from Senator Kerry and his advisors is one of appeasement and indecisiveness. At a time of war, this is not the type of leadership we need. And that's why like me, many Hispanic American Democrats are supporting President Bush."

Hispanics are three times as likely to be uninsured than any other group in the U.S. "We need a President that will promote an aggressive agenda to help uninsured workers get access to affordable health insurance and access to quality health care," said Dr. Rene Rodriguez, President of the Inter-American Coalition of Physicians and Surgeons. "President Bush has proposed an important common-sense plan to address the needs of our uninsured. He has doubled the funding for community health centers and proposed a $3,000 voucher for workers who do not get health insurance in their job. This in addition to the creation of the Health Savings Accounts, the proposal to allow small businesses to ban together to have access to more affordable health plans, and the push for medical liability reform, which is driving health care costs through the roof and forcing doctors to leave the underserved communities, will be great benefits to the millions of Hispanics without access to quality health care."

"Senator Kerry's proposal relies almost exclusively in the expansion of Medicaid to cover uninsured or underinsured workers, and this is not the solution," Dr. Rodriguez added. "The expansion of a poorly run government program that is already bankrupting most state budgets is clearly not the solution. It will add to the financial crisis, which translates into rationing of services and of medications as we currently see in the Medicaid program, solely on the basis of cost control on not on medical need. Having government bureaucrats, not doctors, making decisions over health care coverage, is not the best way to address the needs of our health care system."

According to the 2004 National Hispanic Survey, released by The Latino Coalition earlier this month, the economy was the number one issue in the minds of Hispanic voters, and the majority of voters believed that the best way to keep our economy growing and create jobs was to cut taxes on families and business. "That's why so many Hispanic business-owners and professionals are supporting President Bush," Deposada added.

"The tax and regulatory burden on small businesses is the most important issue affecting Hispanic businesses in this country. And on that front, President Bush stands head and shoulders above Senator Kerry," said Sal Gomez, a Denver businessman and Chairman of the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "Senator Kerry does not understand that most Hispanic businesses are small businesses that file as sole proprietorships and sub chapter S corporations. These companies do not pay corporate taxes, they pay personal taxes on the income of their businesses. Senator Kerry's plan will raise the taxes on almost every Hispanic business in this country, and hurt their growth and the livelihood of their employees."

"President Bush has outlined an agenda that promotes an era of ownership among all Hispanics, including Hispanic small business owners. Under his leadership small businesses will be able to band together to provide more affordable health care for their employees," said Frank Rivera, a register Democrat in Arizona and Vice Chairman of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "Under President Bush, Hispanic homeownership has reached the highest levels in history, thanks in large part to the President initiatives to cut costs and regulation for first-time home- buyers."

"President Bush has outlined an agenda that promotes an era of ownership among Americans and Hispanics are reaping the benefits. Because of President Bush's policies more Hispanics, women and minorities own their own homes and small businesses," stated Otto Merida, Executive Director of the Nevada Latino Chamber of Commerce. "While President Bush is clear on promoting a pro- growth agenda, Senator Kerry is clear on an agenda that raises taxes and government spending at the cost of small business."

In addition, thirteen (13) members of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and six former Chairmen of that same body endorsed President George W. Bush for a second term.

The Latino Coalition is a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, D.C. TLC was established to address policy issues that directly affect the well-being of Hispanics in the United States. TLC's agenda is to develop and promote policies that will foster economic equivalency and enhance overall business, economic, and social development of Hispanics. For more information, or access to the entire endorsement list for 2004, please visit their Web site at http://www.TheLatinoCoalition.com .

As usual, the Left comes thru with fuzzy math...just as Kerry's tax plan is so bogus, so too is this lie from al Baradei and the NYT. You see, al Baradei is p.o.ed because the US is not supporting his pro-Iran butt for a third term. Today Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, marked the third anniversary of the signing into law of the USA PATRIOT Act, and lauded the Administration of President George W. Bush for its commitment to strengthening our nation's security at home, and winning the war on terror abroad.

"Three years ago today, President Bush launched a major effort to strengthen homeland security," Canterbury said. "In drafting the USA PATRIOT Act, the Administration reached out to the F.O.P. and other members of the law enforcement community to see what new enforcement tools were needed to increase our ability to disrupt future attacks before they occur. The law has proved to be a tremendous asset in the fight against terrorism."

Canterbury explained that the USA PATRIOT Act removed the legal barriers that prevented the law enforcement and intelligence communities from sharing critical information about terrorist activity. The law also updated anti-terrorism laws to meet the challenges of modern technology and travel and ensured that law enforcement investigators can use the same tools in terrorism cases that they have used for decades in drug, fraud, and racketeering cases.

Canterbury also criticized presidential candidate John Kerry for continuing to demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding about how to tackle the homeland security challenges we face. Specifically, Canterbury cited an assertion the Senator made today in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in which he described America's mayors as being on the "front lines of the fight to secure America" and that they "know better than anyone the challenges we face to keep our cities prepared."

"If Senator Kerry honestly believes that mayors have a better grasp on the security issues facing their cities than the first responders who actually work on the 'front lines,' how could we trust him with delivering the equipment and funding we need to do our jobs more safely and more effectively?" Canterbury said. "After all, aren't the same people that he is praising so highly the first to cut police services when their budgets get tight, and consistently fail to retain these vital public servants by providing them with a decent wage?"

"To suggest that the war on terrorism here at home will be won by elected city officials rather than our public safety officers is the most troublesome example of his disconnect on the issues of importance to these brave men and women in his campaign for the White House," Canterbury said.

The Fraternal Order of Police is the largest law enforcement labor organization in the United States, with more than 318,000 members.

WHAT?!?!?!?!??! A first responder organization is LAUDING Bush? This must be a conspiracy, it must be a dirty trick by the Republicans...wait, you didn't hear anything about this, did you? Therefore, it must be the truth, since all the 'mainstream' (read partisan propaganda) press does these days is report falsified memos and bogus stories from a disgruntled and useless UN official.

VIETNAM! Update

Source
Special Forces Veterans who served in Vietnam have released an open letter to Senator John Kerry opposing him as a Presidential candidate.

The statement released on http://www.VetsforBush.NET states, "He slandered and dishonored all Vietnam Veterans in false and exaggerated testimony before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee."

The Veterans demand that Senator Kerry sign the Standard Form 180 to release all his military records in order to examine Kerry's contention that his Vietnam service lies at the heart of his fitness for office.

Of 377 Special Forces Vietnam Veterans who reviewed the letter, 365 endorsed it in solidarity with Swift Boat officers and men who oppose Kerry (http://www.swiftvets.com/).

"We released our letter online," said letter coordinator Steve Sherman, former Special Forces officer, "because VetsforBush.NET provides responsible news to Veterans who overwhelmingly support reelection of President Bush."

Sherman served in the same unit as another solider now supporting Kerry and addressed the issue in the Wall Street Journal (http://www.opinionjournal.com/forms/printThis.html?id=110004604)

More recently, he contributed to the "Boston Manifesto" in which Vietnam Veterans and historians concluded that Kerry promoted phony veterans testifying to atrocities they did not commit.

"When Kerry chose to make Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign," said Sherman, "it awoke smoldering opposition from two-and-one-half million Vietnam Veterans who understood how Kerry had used secret meetings with enemy leaders and propaganda hearings to start his political career at the expense of men under fire, POWs and those who served honorably.

"Unfortunately, the mainstream media's refusal to report this story fully and honestly -- while pandering to the year-long attack on President Bush, even with forged documents -- has created a backlash that has further turned people to alternate media. That is why we have released the Special Forces Veterans letter on the Internet at VetsforBush.NET.

"The American people should read the open letter from Veterans who understand Kerry's pretensions better than anyone. Informed Americans can make their own decisions."
If John Kerry thought that ignoring this issue would make it go away, he was WRONG (...again...still...whatever...).

Mark's Remarks

Senator Kerry may have served his country nobly, but his blatant exaggerations (the magic hat, Christmas in Cambodia) and his abhorrent behavior upon returning from the war make him a terrible candidate for commander in chief. He slandered the names of those he served with, and he is continuing to slander those who serve today with "wrong war, wrong time." He continues to slander the 101st airborne and 3rd IG by continuing to spout this ridiculous "ammo dump" story, even though it has been shown to have been a pack of lies cooked up by outside forces....

Kerry's Energy Plan: Inconsistent, Expensive, Leaving America Less Secure

Source
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry's (D-Mass.) energy plan promises to reduce energy prices, maintain diversity of supply while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improve our domestic energy security. However, according to a new analysis of his plan by experts with the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA), Kerry's goals are contradictory and implementation will be expensive. The analysis can be viewed online at http://www.ncpa.org/pub/ba/ba492/.

"Kerry's energy policy is a hopeless muddle, and would result in less energy security and higher fuel costs," said NCPA Senior Fellow H. Sterling Burnett, co-author of the report.

According to the NCPA report, Senator Kerry's energy policy is powered by contradiction. For example:

-- Sen. Kerry has suggested the U.S. could reduce gasoline and other fuel prices by halting the filling of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which is designed to provide a 90-day fuel supply in the event of a national emergency. This, despite the fact that in 2000 when President Clinton sold 30 million barrels of SPR oil -- 1 million barrels a day for 30 days - average gasoline prices fell by only one cent.

-- At the same time, Sen. Kerry has rejected exploration and production of oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), because he believes it would have little or no effect on gas prices. However, ANWR contains 10 to 23 times more oil than the SPR can hold when it is completely filled.

-- Kerry promises $10 billion to support "clean coal" technology over the next decade.

-- But Kerry's support for coal runs counter to his commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Coal-fired power stations are responsible for 80 percent of the utility sector's emissions of carbon dioxide (CO 2). While clean coal technology can reduce levels of certain pollutants, its most widely used form does not reduce CO 2 emissions. Even integrated gasification combined cycle, a new and expensive clean coal technology, only reduces CO 2 emissions 10 to 15 percent.

-- The Kerry energy plan also calls for maintaining the nuclear industry's role in electricity production.

-- However, Kerry would bar the shipment of nuclear waste to the planned federal storage facility at Yucca Mountain, Nevada, virtually ensuring that no new nuclear power plants will be built since, for liability reasons, banks won't fund new plants without a safe option for storing nuclear waste.

"Kerry's energy plan presents some laudable goals, but if enacted, his plan would have the opposite of its intended effects," said Burnett. "It would raise energy prices and reduce energy security.

Clinton Stumps for Kerry

And, if you listened to Clinton, it was never about John Kerry. It was all about...guess who? William Jefferson "egomaniac" Clinton. All he did was pander, pine for his time at the Oval Office (or, the oval bordello under his 'leadership').

'Jane Roe' Endorses President Bush

Source
Norma McCorvey, the former plaintiff in the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion, has endorsed President Bush for re-election. McCorvey became a pro-life Christian in 1995 and renounced her role in the landmark Court decision. She now works full-time to get that decision reversed. In 1998, she was received into the Catholic Church.

Her statement follows:

"In 2000, I voted for the first time, because I wanted to vote for President Bush. I am the former 'Jane Roe' of the Supreme Court's abortion decision Roe vs. Wade, and I am writing this note in my personal capacity, not as the representative of any organization. This year I am going to vote to re-elect President Bush, because he is committed to the cause of life and wants our nation to make room to welcome and protect every unborn child. Unless we do that, we can never have a world of social justice. I urge all my pro-life friends to likewise vote for the President."

French Betrayal of America Update

From the Telegraph:
The French government said yesterday that it would seek a "new alliance" with whomever won the US presidential election next week.

A diplomatic chill has characterised exchanges between Paris and Washington over the past two years as a result of French opposition to the war in Iraq. But the French foreign minister, Michel Barnier, said that the two countries needed to forge a new alliance. This alliance "must be based on mutual respect, which is not allegiance", he said.

Mr Barnier declined to express a preference between President George W Bush and his Democrat rival, Senator John Kerry. His brief remarks on French television indicated both the importance Paris attached to building a better understanding with America, and the likely limitations of any immediate improvement.

Relations between President Jacques Chirac and Mr Bush in particular have been described as beyond repair. A book by two French journalists, published earlier this month, claimed that the French president's telephone calls were regularly bugged by the CIA.
Make no mistake, France is for Kerry. And the only way there will be an "alliance" based on "mutual respect" is if France decides to respect America. They haven't yet and I'm not holding my breath that they will come to their senses anytime soon.

France supported Saddam Hussein. France took part in joint military operations with China in order to scare Taiwan. France has a history; a record, you might say, of not being there when needed. France causes more problems than they fix.

France cares only about itself...I have no problem with that unless it conflicts with American interests; which, of course, it does. So France can kindly keep its condescension to itself.

9:35AM Update: Quasi-Related Story

Dr. Rusty has the story of a foreign fighter killed in Iraq. The French response is a typical example of what I have been talking about...the French don't care that this guy was French, they only care that he doesn't come back to France and "practice what he's learned."

Kosovo Reveals Failure of UN

From the Telegraph:
Early results from the weekend's general election showed that five years of UN rule had only deepened ethnic divisions as Kosovo's voters signalled their despair with the Balkan province's administrators.

Barely more than half of Kosovo's 1.4 million voters went to the ballot box. While the province's majority ethnic Albanians were struck by apathy, its 130,000-strong Serb minority was seized by anger and completely boycotted the poll.

Only a handful of Serbs voted, following calls from Vojislav Kostunica, the Serbian Prime Minister, and the Serbian Orthodox Church to stay away. Mr Kostunica described the election as a "failure".
...
In one success however, the 20,000 Nato soldiers who maintain the peace in Kosovo were not called into action on election day, as the province remained calm.

Matt's Chat

A running theme in the Kerry/Edwards camp is turning over more and more power to the United Nations. The one succcess in Kosovo is that the UN didn't have to deploy troops to stop election-related violence...

National Priests' Organization Responds to Kerry's Speech on Faith

Source
"The Christian faith has been misrepresented again today by John Kerry," said Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, in response to a speech that Kerry gave in Fort Lauderdale. "Kerry said, on the one hand, that he disagrees with the Church on abortion, and yet that society must protect its most vulnerable members.

"That's exactly why the Church is against abortion and requires Kerry -- and every public official -- to extend protection to the most vulnerable, the children in the womb. Mr. Kerry obviously does not understand the Church he claims to belong to. The Church's position on abortion is not based on religious doctrine; it is based on the very duty to society that Mr. Kerry claims to fulfill.

"Mr. Kerry says he will not impose matters of belief by law. We do not want him to. We simply want him to protect human life, including the unborn, despite the beliefs of those who devalue them -- just as the law protects any one of us despite the beliefs of those who might devalue us."

Priests for Life has had over 1000 priests sign a pledge to preach on abortion as the central issue in the Election this year.

John Dean Loses It

By Matt for the TIB Network:

Like so many Michael Moore Democrats, John Dean projects his faults on to his opponents. It is hilarious to think that the Party of Love, whose defacto motto is "By Any Means Neccessary," would resort to this sort of rhetoric. It is nothing more than typical liberal projection and fearmongering.

Bush-Bashers Beware: High Q

From the New York Times:
To Bush-bashers, it may be the most infuriating revelation yet from the military records of the two presidential candidates: the young George W. Bush probably had a higher I.Q. than did the young John Kerry.

That, at least, is the conclusion of Steve Sailer, a conservative columnist at the Web magazine Vdare.com and a veteran student of presidential I.Q.'s. During the last presidential campaign Mr. Sailer estimated from Mr. Bush's SAT score (1206) that his I.Q. was in the mid-120's, about 10 points lower than Al Gore's.

Mr. Kerry's SAT score is not known, but now Mr. Sailer has done a comparison of the intelligence tests in the candidates' military records. They are not formal I.Q. tests, but Mr. Sailer says they are similar enough to make reasonable extrapolations.

Dems Register Terrorists in Ohio

From NewsMax:
Nuradin Abdi - a Somali immigrant and admitted al-Qaida member who was indicted earlier this year as part of a conspiracy to blow up the Columbus Mall - was registered to vote by the civil rights group ACORN, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

ACORN has spearheaded an aggressive Democratic Party vote drive in the battleground states.

Iyman Faris, another new Ohio voter added to the rolls by Democrats, is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence for his role in surveilling potential al-Qaida targets - including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Dispatch said.

According to the Ohio News Now TV network, Abdi's name was added to the rolls by ACORN employee Kevin Eugene Dooley, as part of the group's Project Vote operation.

Dooley was indicted earlier this year on two felony election offenses - false election registration and submitting false election signatures to the Ohio Board of Elections.

Foreign Leaders Say...

...John Kerry is a liar.

From the Washington Times:
U.N. ambassadors from several nations are disputing assertions by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry that he met for hours with all members of the U.N. Security Council just a week before voting in October 2002 to authorize the use of force in Iraq.

An investigation by The Washington Times reveals that while the candidate did talk for an unspecified period to at least a few members of the panel, no such meeting, as described by Mr. Kerry on a number of occasions over the past year, ever occurred.

Matt's Chat

More John Kerry exaggerations of the truth. Kerry lied to the American people when he said this at the second debate:
I went to meet with the members of the Security Council in the week before we voted. I went to New York. I talked to all of them, to find out how serious they were about really holding Saddam Hussein accountable."
As usual, Kerry has fabricated a story that props himself up as some sort of statesman when all he really is is a flim-flam artist. America will not trust a man who acts as if he were Walter Mitty.

From the WMD Mailbag

Americans for Tax Reform:

Today, President George W. Bush signed the JOBS Act which reduces corporate tax rates for domestic manufacturers, allows American companies to repatriate their foreign profits back into America at a lower tax rate, and most importantly, remove tariffs being placed on American companies by the European Union (EU).

The importance of this legislation to American taxpayers, workers, and economy cannot be underestimated. The legislation signed by President Bush today removes tariffs being placed on American companies, which is the equivalent of a $4 billion tax cut per year for American businesses and workers. The previous Foreign Sales Corporations (FSCs) and the extraterritorial income exclusion (ETI) export subsidies were found to be in violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements. As a result, the EU was imposing tariffs on American companies at 12 percent, which were acting like a tax on American businesses and workers. These tariffs were obviously inflicting damage on the U.S. economy.

"Today, President Bush signed legislation removing discriminatory tariffs being placed on American companies and cutting taxes for American manufacturers to make our economy more competitive globally," said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. "These provisions will boost jobs and growth in America, but today's signing also leaves Sen. John Kerry with no economic plan."

With just 11 days to go until the presidential election, Democratic presidential candidate Kerry has no economic plan left. The Kerry plan for 10 million jobs relied on cutting the corporate tax rate for domestic manufacturers by 5 percent and allowing companies to repatriate their foreign profits back into America at a 10 percent tax rate. The legislation signed by President Bush today cuts the corporate tax rate by 9 percent and allows companies to repatriate their foreign profits back into America at a 5.25 percent rate. So not only has this legislation removed the Kerry team from having an economic plan, the legislation signed by Bush is superior in economic growth.

"The only two provisions left in the Kerry economic plan are raising taxes on America's small businesses and a 1970's era job tax credit that did not work then and definitely will not work now," continued Norquist. "I find it quite ironic after all of Kerry's complaining about jobs and his "plan" for these jobs, he has absolutely no plan 11 days before election other than to damage the American economy."
I blame Bush...

'Airplane!' Director is On Board

Source
Club for Growth.Net, one of the nation's leading political advocacy organizations, today unveiled a new national television ad, which ridicules John Kerry's indecisiveness on many policy issues.

"John Kerry's indecisiveness and flip-flopping are no laughing matter-that is until we teamed up with Hollywood hit maker David Zucker," said Club for Growth.Net president Stephen Moore. "David, whose credits include the blockbuster comedies "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun," has found a way to work his movie magic to create the funniest and most devastating ad this year. This ad cuts right to the chase and shows that there are consequences for not being able to make up one's mind."

"I was really a liberal Democrat until 9/11," said Zucker. "There is no question in my mind that President Bush is doing a great job fighting the war on terror. We can't trust Kerry to do that. I wanted to do something, but since no one was asking me to make policy speeches I made this ad."

There's nothing wrong with making a decision and then changing your mind," the announcer says. "But if you never commit to what you believe in, who will ever commit to you? Onscreen a groom at his wedding bypasses his bride to romantically kiss the maid of honor.

John Kerry has changed his mind on all these important issues. Onscreen John Kerry's arms go up and down while the issues on which John Kerry has been indecisive appear including: Iraq, the Patriot Act, and $87 million for U.S. troops in Iraq.

"Now there's nothing wrong with a little indecision as long as your job doesn't involve any responsibility," the announcer continues. Onscreen a bomb squad member can't decide which wire to cut to defuse the bomb. He then runs away and other squad members follow him as the bomb explodes.

"John Kerry has changed his mind time and time again. If you thought you could trust John Kerry, you may want to change your mind."

The television ad, paid for by Club for Growth.Net, will begin running later in the week nationwide on cable news channels. The ad was written and directed by David Zucker. All of the actors in the ad donated their time.

Club for Growth.Net was established by members of the Club for Growth and is producing and airing over $1 million of issue advertisements this month.

Terrorism's Silent Partner

From Front Page Mag:
This month, the United Nations Security Council voted to condemn terrorism. The resolution was introduced by Russia, still grieving over the terrorist attack on a school in Beslan, and perhaps the unanimous vote will give it a measure of solace.

But the convoluted text and the dealings behind the scenes that were necessary to secure agreement on it offer cold comfort to anyone who cares about winning the war against terrorism. For what they reveal is that even after Beslan and after Madrid and after 9/11, the UN still cannot bring itself to oppose terrorism unequivocally.

The reason for this failure is that the Organization of the Islamic Conference, which comprises 56 of the UN's 191 members, defends terrorism as a right.

Kerry Misleading Voters on Social Security

American Shareholders Association:
The American Shareholders Association (ASA) today called on Sen. John Kerry to end his outright misinformation campaign on Social Security. Kerry is claiming 1) the Social Security system does not need to fixed; 2); he has a plan to fix Social Security; and 3) current retirees will see a 35 percent benefit cut. These assertions are more than just misstatements; he is outright misleading voters. ASA's executive director issued the following statement in response to Kerry's misinformation campaign:

"There is no question Social Security is facing insolvency without action. This results from demographic changes of retiring baby boomers. In 1950, there were 16 working Americans per retiree; today its three workers per retiree and declining. There are just not enough workers to pay for the future retirees, creating a deficit in 2018 and completely bankrupting the system in 2042. Workers born after 1970 will not receive any benefits without raising taxes by 50 percent or cutting benefits by 30 percent.

"Kerry understood this in 1996 when he proclaimed the system needed reform. Now he has no plan except 19 words calling for a growing economy. No credible person with an understanding of the system, Democrat or Republican, believes this to be true. The demographic shift facing this country is much greater than any economic gain and Kerry knows this but he is simply trying to scare voters.

"Kerry is also claiming that Bush wants to 'privatize' the system, forcing cuts in benefits for current retirees. This is just false. Personal retirement accounts are for younger workers who will not receive benefits under the current system when the system goes bankrupt. This in no way affects any current or immediate future retiree. By allowing younger workers a higher rate of return the system will remain solvent without raising taxes or cutting benefits.

"Kerry's outright misinformation campaign is not leadership. The greatest domestic policy challenge facing this country in the next term is retirement security for older workers without saddling younger workers. Kerry has chosen to outright deceive on the issue and ignores the problems facing the country. It's time he ends this shell game for the good of the American people."

French Betrayal of America Update

From the New York Sun:
Diplomatic sources tell The New York Sun that President Mubarak is likely to announce today that he is willing to host a regional conference to discuss Iraqi security and the forgiveness of Iraqi debt next month in the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The meeting planned for November 21 and 22 could blunt criticism from the Kerry campaign that the president has shunned diplomacy in his effort to stabilize the situation in Iraq.

Crack the Vote Update

We have a statement from the Executive Director of the NAACP National Voter Fund:
Following is a statement of Greg Moore, executive director of the NAACP National Voter Fund, regarding the Ohio man charged with voter registration fraud:

The NAACP National Voter Fund is shocked by the stories swirling in Ohio regarding a Defiance man who has allegedly filled in over 100 fraudulent voter registration forms in exchange for cocaine. This matter deserves the attention of law enforcement. If laws have been violated, then legal action should be taken against the people who are responsible.

The NAACP National Voter Fund has detailed guidelines outlining procedures that should be followed by its volunteers. The individual arrested in Defiance is not a volunteer on record with our organization. Any person who works on behalf of NVF is required to abide by these guidelines and all applicable federal and state laws.

We believe anyone violating the law hurts the credibility of NVF and more importantly, the thousands of hard working men and women who are legally registering people to vote.

NVF has registered over 80,000 new voters in the state of Ohio and over 225,000 nationwide. These volunteers and canvassers who have worked tirelessly to enfranchise the disenfranchised citizens of Ohio throughout the year should not have their work discredited by the alleged acts of others.

We will not allow these allegations to disrupt our efforts to mobilize voters and ensure that their votes are counted on Election Day.
Notice no mention of disciplinary action taken on the part of the NAACP against the two who WERE affiliated with the NAACP National Voter Fund.

Holy $#|+ Update: Kerry Edition

From WorldNetDaily:
"I went to Rome in person to submit two critical questions to the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith," Balestrieri is quoted as saying. "The first: Whether or not the church's teaching condemning any direct abortion is a dogma of Divine and Catholic Faith, and if the denial and doubt of the same constitutes heresy. The second: Whether or not a denial of the church's teaching condemning every right to abortion also constitutes heresy. Father Cole, an expert theologian who studied the matter carefully, responded in the affirmative on both counts."

Cole wrote, "If a Catholic publicly and obstinately supports the civil right to abortion, knowing that the Church teaches officially against that legislation, he or she commits that heresy envisioned by Can. 751 of the Code [of Canon Law]. Provided that the presumptions of knowledge of the law and penalty and imputability are not rebutted in the external forum, one is automatically excommunicated. ..."
As ignorant as John Kerry is about his faith, this will not be enough for Kerry to concede the argument and realize that yet again he is wrong. And if it is, his hubris will not allow him to admit it publically...

I am actually sad for John Kerry. Excommunication is a serious matter. I hope he can get the matter resolved, but I caution him against attempting to "nuance" his way out of his troubles.

The Church does have other problems, but heresy of this magnitude needs to be addressed and should have a LONG time ago...

Still no word on whether or not a vote for a politican that supports abortion is a sin... Developing...as Matt Drudge would say, but this is a blow to Kerry's credibility on the issue.

Useless Nobodies Update

Two stories to examine today:

The first comes from the New York Post:
The son of U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has been targeted by a federal criminal probe into corruption of the scandal-scarred Iraq oil-for-food program, sources said.

Top U.N. officials said 30-year-old Kojo Annan is among a handful of individuals and companies whose business dealings with the gigantic U.N. humanitarian aid program are now facing the white-hot scrutiny of a federal grand jury in Manhattan.

It was not clear exactly why Kojo Annan is being eyed in the probe, which involves an $11 billion scheme involving alleged kickbacks and illegal oil smuggling orchestrated by deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

But the sources told The Post that Annan's business activities also are being probed by an independent commission headed by former Federal Reserve Board chief Paul Volcker.
I'm a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty; but where this scandal is concerned, where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

The second story comes from the Washington Post:
The United Nations has failed to fully staff its operation in Iraq, imperiling the timing and quality of the elections there and forcing inexperienced Iraqis to take the lead in preparing for the country's first democratic balloting, due in January, U.S. officials and election experts said.

Of the 35 U.N. officials in Iraq, only four or five are election experts, U.N. officials said. In Afghanistan, which has a similar-size population, the U.N. had 600 international staff, including 266 election experts, for the first democratic poll this month. A major increase in Iraq is unlikely soon because of deteriorating security and the U.S. failure to quickly mobilize Georgian and Fijian troops for a protection force or provide an acceptable alternative, U.S. and U.N. officials said.

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan is trying to lower expectations that the United Nations will play a central role in the voting, telling reporters in Ireland on Friday that the world body "is not going to Iraq to monitor the elections in January."

"Our role is to support and advise the Iraqi authorities as they organize the elections," he said. "They are responsible for the elections, and they have ownership of those elections."
The UN is worthless. They want in...they get in...they fail to support the project...they want out...

Just remember, folks, this is who John Kerry wants to have control over our military. The UN: with their scandals and poor peacekeeping track record.

On the Subject of 'Lies'

By Matt for the TIB Network:

The subject has come up yet again in comments, so rather than bury my response in comments, I thought I'd address our European friend's questions right here in the open.

Peter van P. (typical Michael Moore Liberal):
*pre 9/11: AQ focus, daily meetings Tenet, the "increase" of counterrorism funding, no reports that planes might be used, no threath [sic] of attack mentioned during aug 6 briefing, manner of attack was not specific etc...
There are a number of problems with these 'lies':

+ By the accounts of Condi Rice (9/11 testimony), there was a focus on al Qaeda prior to 9/11 and a plan for eliminating the threat was in the works. 9/11 happened before the plan could be brought to the President.

+ I don't have the President's schedule handy, but even weekly meetings with Tenet would have been an improvement over President Clinton. Clinton met with the Director of the CIA only a handful of times the entire eight years he was in office. (Dr. Rice did indicate that Bush met with Tenet everyday 'on the record' as they say. The burden of proof is on the accuser.)

+ From page 219 of the 9/11 Commission Report:
The [Bush] administration decided to propose to Congress a substantial increase in counterterrorism funding for national security agencies, including the CIA and the FBI. This included a 27 percent increase in counterterrorism funding for the CIA.
Emphasis added.

+ As for "no reports that planes might be used" that is NOT what Dr. Rice said. Here is the Condi quote (quote was taken from the Senate Democrats website):
"I don't think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon. [No one predicted] that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile." (Press Briefing, 5/16/03)
She is correct. I have not seen nor heard of a report that indicated that AQ was planning to use hijacked planes as missiles. The burden of proof is on the accuser.

+ "No threat of attack in Aug 6 PDB": The August 6th Presidential Daily Briefing did not outline an attack. It was a historical overview of what AQ had done and indicated that AQ was determined to strike the United States. There was no threat outlined because all of these attacks mentioned HAD ALREADY HAPPENED.

(I am assuming, Peter, that your "manner of attack" bit is related to the Aug 6 PDB. If not please clarify in the comments and I'll refute that too.)

More Peter van P. (typical Michael Moore Liberal):
*9/11 having seen the first plane crash:"that's a terrible pilot" *after 9/11:NYC air is safe to breathe, well never let Osama go, link 9/11 to Iraq, Saoudi-Arabia [sic] is our friend, using all intelligence assets and military assets, to chase AQ down and bring them to justice ,Taliban has been put out of business forever
+ "That's a terrible pilot" - I have been unable to find a credible source for this one, but I'll take you at your word. Are you disputing that he saw it or that he thought it was an accident? EVERYBODY thought the first one was an accident.

+ Post 9/11 air quality in NYC: Your beef is with the EPA, not the President of the United States. You know, the Environmental Protection Agency... It is clear that the EPA erroneously declared the air safe to breathe. The President has to trust he is getting good information from government agencies. (I could make a really good Big Government is bad argument here...)

+ "Will never let Osama go": That doesn't sound like a direct quote, but I'll accept it as the appropriate sentiment. Question, have we heard from Osama since Tora Bora? When was the last time we've heard from that publicity whore? Sounds to me like he didn't get away. (I am with those who say Osama was killed in Tora Bora and the administration decided to keep it quiet because they didn't want Osama to become a martyr. Sure they don't get credit for the kill, but then again, this way Osama fades away in to oblivion.)

+ 9/11-Iraq link: That is NOT what the President's position is. The President rightly has pointed out that Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism. Saddam harbored Abu Nidal and Abu Abbas. Does the name Zarqawi mean anything to you? He was in Iraq receiving medical attention after getting injured in Afghanistan. While recovering, Zarqawi ran terrorist training camps IN IRAQ. People tend to confuse the War on Terror with the War on al Qaeda. There is no war on AQ. The problem is larger than just one organization.

+ Saudi Arabia is our friend: Saudi Arabia is what John Kerry would call an "ally." Meaning, another country that has something that they can contribute to the cause. Are they perfect allies? No, but neither are the French (And actually, I think both of these countries are more like enemies than friends). We aren't going to transform the Middle East without the support and cooperation of Saudi Arabia. So we should tell them to piss-off, right? Diplomacy kind of sucks like that.

+ "using all intelligence assets and military assets, to chase AQ down and bring them to justice": Over 75% of AQ has been either killed or captured and what is left is on the run. The President indicated, from the beginning, that this was quite likely to be a generational effort. He wasn't lying.

+"Taliban has been put out of business forever": Name for me one country in which the Taliban has power. The burden of proof is on the accuser.

Even more from Peter van P. (typical Michael Moore Liberal):
Iraq: the WMD [expletive deleted] with a lot of spinning around it: from “leaves no doubt that Iraq continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised.” -> "Saddam could give WMD's to terrorists" -> "the Kay Report identified dozens of weapons of mass destruction-related program activities and significant amounts of equipment" ->“knows where [Iraq’s WMDs] are. They are in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.” ->"They could have been destroyed during the war. . . They could be hidden. They could have been transported to another country" -> ( in Poland) "found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories. . . . They’re illegal. They’re against the United Nations resolutions, and we’ve so far discovered two.” ( some kind of reboot of his HD I suppose ) etc...
I'm not going to break this one down point by point. I could, but I'm not going to bother: Kay, Hutton, and Duelfer have already done that. I will speak to the general content...

+WMD: The world's intelligence agencies ALL thought Saddam had stockpiles of those weapons at the time. The UN and the IAEA both thought Saddam had stockpiles of those weapons at the time. I have read the reports Hans Blix filed with the UN, he indicated that Saddam was in material breach of the resolutions. The burden of proof was on Saddam to prove that he didn't have the weapons, he failed to do that.

+ The Kay Report DID identify WMD-related programs. You actually have to read the report. "Related programs" doesn't mean stockpiles of weapons; it means related programs.

+ Question: Where did the Syrian terrorists get chemical weapons with which to attempt an attack on Jordan? Would it help to know that there was intelligence indicating convoys between Iraq and Syria just prior to the start of the war?

I ask again, WHAT LIES?

RNC Chair on Voter Intimidation

Source

RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie:
"Last week we learned that the Kerry campaign playbook involves making allegations of voter intimidation where none exist. Now we're seeing that playbook in action and we are certain to see a litany of baseless allegations over the next 15 days.

"On Friday, ACT sent minority voters in Missouri a reprehensible color flier depicting an African American man being hosed down by a firefighter and associated the act with Republicans. Using a 40-year-old photo and associating it with the Republican Party to suggest intimidation is unethical and despicable.

"On Saturday, Senator Edwards erroneously charged that Republicans would use 'old tricks' to keep people from voting.

"On Sunday and today, Democrats admitted they plan to make up stories of voter intimidation where none exist as part of 'pre- emptive strikes'.

"With 15 days left until the election, Democrats have admitted they have nothing to offer the American people but fear and bold- faced untruths. Fear is not an agenda and Democrats will learn this lesson on Election Day."
Emphasis added.

Who's fearmongering again? Who is promoting a climate of fear?

I'm just asking...

Party of Love Update

By Matt for the TIB Network:

Blogger Rob Bernard leads us to this one:
Cleanup will soon be under way at the Bush-Cheney Victory Center in York County for the fifth time this election season.

Vandals spray painted anti-Bush messages and "Vote Kerry" on the building and on the rented sign out front Wednesday night.

They also stole the letters from the sign out front which had been advertising a veterans event for this weekend.

"I just don't understand the mentality we're dealing with here. I mean, what are they proving? Because it's really, it's degrading to the other party to have this kind of vandalism going on," said Darwin Doll, headquarters coordinator.

The vandals hit other businesses and a barn along Route 74 just outside of Dallastown Wednesday night.

Doll said the Victory Center will now be equipped with security cameras.
It's got to be some Karl Rove-HALLIBURTON!-ChimperorDumbyaMcShrubby plot to make activist Democrats look like thugs that they are...

A Bit About Faith

Lileks the Wise in Today's Bleat:
It varies, shall we say. For every believer who feels compelled to drop to his knees you have a Gene Hackman-style priest from “The Poseidon Adventure,” yelling at God. Rational people can have many different manifestations of faith, and it’s a failure of imagination to think there’s but one way.
"[I]t’s a failure of imagination to think there’s but one way." I like that...sums up my approach nicely, I think. Just in case you cared enough to troll on the subject...

Kerry Misleads America About Police Support

Source
Chuck Canterbury, the President of the nation's largest police labor organization, called on John Kerry to stop making misleading statements regarding his support from the law enforcement community. Both on the campaign trail and in Wednesday night's debate in Tempe, AZ, Senator Kerry has alluded that he has the support of the majority of these brave men and women.

"As the elected leader of the largest organization representing America's Federal, State and local law enforcement officers, I believe it's important to point out yet again that we do not support his candidacy for President," Canterbury said. "And to be perfectly frank, the groups which do support him actually share the same membership rolls and, taken together, probably comprise less than one-quarter of our nation's police officers."

Canterbury further noted that unlike the organizations which Senator Kerry touts, F.O.P. members as a whole decided that the Fraternal Order of Police would endorse the reelection of President George W. Bush. They based their decision, he said, on the record of the Bush Administration in supporting America's first responders-including helping to secure passage earlier this year of H.R. 218, the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, the organization's top legislative priority. Bush also successfully fought to greatly enhance the benefits for the families of officers killed in the line of duty.

"While Kerry was flying around the country campaigning and leaving the actual work of the nation to his colleagues in the Senate, the President was out there working on our behalf," Canterbury said. "Senators Kerry and Edwards have missed so many crucial votes this Congress that I was beginning to believe there were only 98 members of the U.S. Senate."

Canterbury also said it was the height of irony that Kerry would use his position on the reauthorization of the assault weapons ban as a reflection of his support from police.

"First, if a police officer is killed by an AK-47, Kerry would oppose the death penalty for the killer," Canterbury said. "In addition, where was he when this issue was being discussed in the 108th Congress? Where was he when we were working to pass H.R. 218? When it came time to help push for final passage of legislation important to law enforcement, Senator Kerry was regrettably A.W.O.L."

"Given the facts, I would greatly appreciate it if Senator Kerry would refrain from making similar whimsical assertions regarding his support from the law enforcement community," Canterbury said. "The real majority of my fellow officers are standing behind President Bush, because he has been there for us."

Kerry Blamed for Haiti Unrest by UN Commander

From the BBC:
The commander of the UN peacekeepers in Haiti has linked a recent upsurge in violence there to comments made by the US presidential candidate, John Kerry.

Earlier this year Mr Kerry said that as president he would have sent American troops to protect Jean-Bertrand Aristide who was ousted from power in February.

The Brazilian UN general, Augusto Heleno, said Mr Kerry's comments had offered "hope" to Aristide supporters. Much of the recent unrest has centred on areas loyal to Mr Aristide.

More than 50 people have died over the past fortnight.
It would have been the wrong war, at the wrong place, at the wrong time, and for the wrong reasons had we sent troops to Haiti to protect Aristide. Is this the kind of judgement we want in the White House? I don't...

Sinclair Broadcasting

By Matt for the TIB Network:

Sinclair Broadcasting intends to preempt programming prior to the election for the airing of Stolen Honor, a documentary about POWs hurt by John Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony.

Kerry/Edwards' lawyer, Marc Elias has written Sinclair a letter, but the letter fails to mention that Sinclair offered Kerry an opportunity to rebut and the CANDIDATE REFUSED.

I'm no lawyer, but I don't see the legal merits of their "case." And apparently the FCC didn't either...
